ok some things about mod .. deadline for it is 2nd of April and after this it will be publically available .. servers will change in it, some will be pure some non pure (cheating protection will need a pure server to work 100%) so u won't be able to use other mods (some osp client files for example) in pure server(s) .. if u want to have something in it, contribute now ..


please check topics in this section (new efreeze section) and be sure u post in right one ..


also beta testers will be needed a week before deadline to hardley test everything .. so if u find urself in it, post here ..

well indeed i like everything, cos im happy also with the nromal freeze (and im still using it!) so i cant help a lot in improving!! :)

90% are/should be interested in the project! its the thing that can save the community from falling into a hole of lamers...(the other 10% being the lamers..)

grapple style set to 2, and color is set to be some light blue (u have RGB scale (red, green, blue) so u can mix colors and get every color u want from gray to some light orange for example ..


 


also ingame u'll see others to have grapple like u, so there won't be confusion, like one having lightining style and one rail style .. same with color, u'll see others to have same as u ..

never known how peeps can use that black and white one! its so horrid! bleh

personally im gonna go for the rail type - the less on my screen the better...so much easier to see what im doin :D

you only get the black and white one if you dont have a proper mod, with dont got a grapple. its just you miss the grapple code so there is no picture to use as grapple.
lets make the rail one as default, so no more gary awsome grapple...
there is no gray grapple only the lightning gun and railgun
i think meant make it default so that no one gets it in some crazy bug? :p

there are no bugs in the mod cos none is a perfect programmer

about the black and white grapple .. it's only shown when u don't have client files .. quake finds a weapon on server side and when it looks on client for gfx's, sounds, etc, it can't be found and a simple black and white planes are made ..


grapple gfx's are client sided, so if u'll set to rail u won't see anyone having it other and some players still prefer lightning .. i want to make mod to be default as normal freeze, without any other settings (looked from client and server side) .. so a user will set his client side of quake as how he wants and admin the server side ..


 


 

cheat protection will take some more time that it was firstly planned, so i think client side of mod won't be done till the deadline .. i don't want that there're 304930493 versions of mod, cos this will really cause problems on pure servers, so i don't guarantee that client side of mod will be done till 2nd of april .. but will, of course, do my best to finish mostly of it  ..

mabey you can bing out a public beta witout the some clientoptions (if they are not finisched and anticheat if that aint finished), if you dont call it efreeze but efreezebeta (the folder) there should be no pure problems when releasing the final. with will be in efreeze

mod will be released on 2nd of april, no matter what .. it will be released as efreezebeta and will be open for anyone .. this way we'll be able to test it and we'll be able to discuss what should be changed/added for final release .. also if there'll be bugs found i'll be able to fix them for first final release..


u'll be able to download it from here or server, if server will be pure, i recommend putting autodownload on, otherwise u probably won't be able to join the server ..


first version will not include readme's, so when i'll be a bit more bored :) i'll put them at first here and a readme in first final version .. so u'll find everything here .. i'll open some more topics for help/readme's and other stuff soon ..

u talk about lowes maxs packs so does this mean that they will only be able to have there max packs on 100 or :S if they have them higher does is make them lagg more so its harder to hit and higher ping aslo i god dam h8 them with max packs not 100

admin set them on 62 for example, and if they will have them lower, it will set it to 62, if higher, it will leave it as they have .. kapish? coolio :-)

well there was a hugely informative post a while back from rebby...

but basically:
100maxpackets is the ideal for 1.31 players, it ties in with maxfps 125 and basically gives the lowest ping and lag possible...(thought 125 maxpackets is the most disired cos it ties in with maxfps 125 perfectly)
however 62.5 maxpackets can work just as well....mainly for un-steady fps i think..though not sure on this...(its why its minimum)


which is the reason ive always been damn pissed at the 15-45 maxpacket users...cos it lags them like hell! and only fakes the ping to look lower (really is like 20-50 ping higher than normal ping...but ive seen it work up to 200 more on high pingers)

there is some calculation you can do with maxpackets , snaps and fps. i must always get on a round number to fit on the grit. that is why in fact 63 (62.5 =63) is oke to but everything more is better cos it can cath on packetloss.

funender.com does not work here but i think you mean that tool that is made to jump further and higher. its based on the same calculation but that site does not aim for less lag but onley to jump further but sinds this is off topic its to none to delete this shit :P

dm6 is ok but it played just a little to often need a new map to take its place :D


map rotation goes somthing like this dm6 dm5 dm7 dm6 dm6 1++ for about 30 sec then right back to dm6 omg get over it

Dm6 is great map but as it Jakie said, too often.. mainly when ppl don't like some map they often call a vote for dm6 for it's sure it will pass.. bleh :(

well about the new maps, i have taken care of that, i have sent none 20 ish new maps that are noing like the ones that we play, NO orginal Q3 maps at all, no even modifyed version of them, all compleatly new, mayb none can include then in the .pk file for the mod, so when u download the mod u get the maps to. i still have another 100ish maps so if these are not liked by all then we can try different ones. so i hope that this will sort out the DM6 problem. we can still have that map, but after the roation.






at noneY, would it be possable to set the mod so u can not vote for a map u just played, cos i hate it when u play a map then move to the next 1 then some 1 new comes in and calls a vote for the map we just played, i mean it gets boreing, we play dm6 then we move to the next 1 then we have to play it again, i DONT even like DM6 any more, as it is played to often,

about maps, i'm for dm10, we played it a lot in the beginning, but it was deleted from rotation ages ago .. dunno why exactly .. dm15 should be removed if u ask me :)

sry for not letting u know, but tried to fix the problem without luck ..


there's some anti cheat problem for now, it works nice in .dll but when compiling it in .qvm it overflows quake if u're cheating .. everything works ok if u don't cheat, but as i want logging/kicking/banning to be good for those who are, i'll try to fix this problem today .. if i'll fail, i'll release it as it is, so there'll be a version of it today for sure ..

tbh i dont see a prob...i dont think anyone minds about logging them if its for sure gonna kick them....but meh :D
i wanted that quake had no restrictions just i know how i would make it. cheater enters cheater gets kicked and his hd gets formated that would learn them. :P
well as anti cheat is most awaited feature, i want to make sure it's best it could be even in first beta ..

i'm still sry about the mod .. communication between client and server gives me (and rebtor) headaches lately, so algorithm for checking cheats is perfect, i just need a perfect communications between them, so server knows when exactly some player cheats ..


anyway, as i have some colloquium on university this week, i'll move the deadline to this saturday 9th april (i'm sry about it)


as now i'm going to build my own communication system between it, so a cheater will be kicked in seconds after joining and there'll be no errors in checking cheats .. also logging and banning and kicking will work perfectly with no errors ..

Well great there's a new mod, but the anti cheat thing :( now i'm gonna suck XD. But seriously i don't think anti cheat is that important there aren't many who do it ( i hope ) and they don't last that long anyway cusae it's get boring if you do it i guess :p so if it get you head pains nock it :D

well stijn u didn't play for long time as i see, barely even see u .. as u see the poll, anti cheat is far beyond everything else, i don't want scene's like it was with poT, i don't like ppl call someone cheater (some left, cos of it), u'll be now sure if he got skills or not, i saw lot's of very known ppl who got banned on 1v1 server cos of cheating also, some were even asking why they're banned from it ... but i don't want to be a policeman now here ..


most cheating is done in CW's (i guess u can't remember a cw we had when i was in loonies and they even admit it) .. i guess u don't know what scene's were here cos of it.. even last failed league had some of 'em .. it's needed, it's mostly needed thing in our community, now u'll be able to say "this guy have skills" without even think about cheating ..


stijn this is the main thing of new mod, don't see otherwise why would i building one ..

also i need some peeps for testing the mod on this friday .. just want to check if everything works, if someone find any bugs or if there'll be any not working function, thing or anything ..


i would be glad if i can get at least 2 players, this will be done on friday evening and it will start somewhere around 8 pm (EU) .. it won't take much time, just want to test things before releasing them to public .. and yes this time mod will be released on 0:01 (EU) saturday :D

i've updated variables, there aren't many for client side yet, so check them on this forum, also new version will bring more of client features, a scoreboard similar to cgx, new grapple styles, new menu's and lot's of other things .. (some were mentioned)


as servers will change tomorrow, put autodownload (setup/game options/automatic downloading) ON, cos they'll be pure (and to download them from server), otherwise u won't be able to play there


u'll be able to download the mod from here too..
also copy ur old config to efreezebeta/ to have to old one (when servers will be converted)

Oh yea, I want to test it but I'm not home. Visiting my dad and he has a good pc but with an integrated graphic card, so i won't bother putting quake on it.

put it into root dir of quake and unpack it, that's it .. also copy ur config
from instaunlagged dir, if u want to have ur old settings ..


i have also made server configs, default.cfg and efreeze.cfg
.. default.cfg will load default settings, like it would be without efreeze
(normal instaunlagged), efreeze.cfg will load efreeze settings (fast hook, no
delay at it, spawn protection, ..............)


configs are also optimized, so to get best ping set ur com_maxfps to 100 (not
125) and maxpackets to 100 .. u'll get best results in ping in this
way .. of course if ur machine can't handle such fps, set maxpackets
as ur fps's are ..

it won't solve that, Stema will have to get himself some better server pc.

the lag is to do with stema's setup - laggy no matter what mod..

the hook is not something that needs to be 'solved' cos its adjustable in normal freeze- its just stema's decsion to put as it is..

ok there's a mod update, cos of some problems:


- new client commands started with ef_ now (upon many requests)
- some
logging issues fixed
- battlesuit droping bug fixed
- mod is now half of
befores size (466kb now)


i won't update mod till next release of it, only if there'll be new server
crashes

osp files won't work on 333 server, nothing will .. other models won't work, no other sounds, no other .pk3 files won't work there .. server is pure, so only what's build in the mod itself, .. anticheat needs pure and all have same possibilities there, no one have some "add-ons" and stuff .. sry about that, but on 333 server, u can't have anything other, ..


and for those who can't get into it, put autodownload on ON! ok :)


commands also updated to /ef_ so an ef_ and pressing TAB will bring all of 'em atm ..


poison's server is not pure so that's why u can have them there ..

Would it be possible to add green colour and forcing enemy team models to efreeze? Got really used to it.. not mentioning that I hate classy freeze scoretables :)

well i'm not sure about green models .. it's too easy, same with forcing just enemies .. now it's more interesting again, standard is lower already and that's what i like .. all have same possibilities now ..
hope u understand, for us all is more challenging now and not in doubt about cheating anymore ..


also ping is better on stema's server, it's like it was in best old days

well about the green models thing...tbh i think that its unfair to not include them..
sure it makes things easier, but if there's the option its in the users decsion....

not per definision but your easyer to spot, for examble in dm 17 someone on the far platform with a blue skin is hard to see, someone with a green glowing skin is easy to see, what you can see you cant hit. so in that way it makes green models easyer to hit. also green is more eye cathing so you will react sooner on it.



but for this time i dont go in the discussion about it has green models to be inplementated. i know many use it, i know many dont, i know many like it, i know many hate it so you have a discussion on this one but at the end its none who needs to build it. so if you want it implementated convince none to build it, but i'm nutral in this matter.

about green models .. well guys, i know u don't understand, but it's not like make green models and they're in .. i need CPMA skins (ok np for that) for this i need CPMA to share their code to me like they did to OSP and to all other mods that they have them implemented (not sure how many) .. if i wanna make it on my own, this could takes me months, nor i know if i would be able to make them myself anyway .. it's not like, copy files and it works, or as easy as doing soundpack, but yea i know u don't understand ..


well u can really thank poison that he made a temp solution .. he put unpure server up (i'm thankful from heart), so u can use them there .. but as u'll have osp client files, cheat protection and other stuff won't work from efreeze .. so if u really miss green models so much, do play there for now, i can't do nothing more atm, i'm sry ..


it's not so easy to make things as u most think .. it's not like u find something in other mod and i can implement it in .. most of u think i can get/steal some stuff from other mods, but i can't .. i have to do all by myself, have to think how this can work and program it myself .. for example, just anti cheat is written in more than 500 lines of code, so it's work with such stuff guys, takes (took me) days/weeks to code such things and that they work with hundred percent no error .. but still some stuff left, like getting ip, it's not just get ip and u have it there .. i would love to do it, but it's not so simple and needs more hours of my time to get it to work ..


but i know this is not in ur interest nor ur problem .. well i do my best on mod ..

Hey None u sound a bit down.. I dont know how many people are whining on ur head about this must be in and that must be in and stuff like that..but I must say ur tooo good for us. We all know its damn lot of work what u already done for us and we love u for doing it! If something is too hard or takes to much time to do, just say it cant be done. Than, if u do find a way or the time to make it, u can surprise us maybe :) Anywayz, I thought u sounded a bit down and thus needed a pep talk :) Keep it up

i have a problem with efreeze. I downloaded this mod. Autoexec and 333 made efreeze server(s). To da autoexec's server i can connect but to 333...i cant. :~(

i think the 333 server is a diffrent mod to poisons server i think this as my hook is diffrent on them so :P


what our plan of action team

333 + hod are diff..

i dont think hod is pure and i think only 1 of 333 is pure (other is norm freeze or so)

autodownload from 333 efreeze pure server and then it should work on any serv...

from hod u dont get all the right files...and so pure 333 will kick...get them from pure 333 and all is fine :p

ok i'll make new to do list, new things coming .. 2 new scoreboards, new grapple style (a new one without rocket infront, but some nice flare) and mucho mucho more .. i'll do "to do" list a bit later ..


u can also see 0.000002b :D version of new scoreboard, also give ideas how will u change it, if any new info should be on it, what colors, .... the second scoreboard will be more osp like, with just thaws and accu on it (and other normal info of course), so a bit less info like on this one .. of course u'll be able to switch between them and put it on normal old one if u would like ..

also i was thinking of a algorithm, which will give u best ping on ur connection, so it will check regulary ur ping and adjust ur settings to better it, if u'll have it turned on of course .. so u would get always best results no matter the connection and without lagging .. a bit A.I, ..... what u think of this?

Well this is the case in OSP 1v1 Instagib, it makes spawnfragging lots more easy, I don't have anything against that though.

scorebord is nice but will it hold 24 slots on it eg if they are 24 peeps there can i see them all or are some out of the picture
I think the accuracy is a must, but excellents are also cool to know.

yea, so 1v1 will have it's own scoreboard too (no thaws and stuff, just accuracy and all other normal stuff), it will be idd interesting in 1v1 (for some even more) .. also will lock g_spawnInVuln for 1v1, cos it's too annoying :D

i like the idear of the ops score bord how u casn make your name diffrent colores more then normal freeze and it changes color like the bw team colors


well, shadows are not black and effect is so different .. i can make shadows other colors too, but is this just scoreboard? .. isn't it that u can have such names in whole game? as i know u can ...


anyway, scoreboard is getting nicer, but it's not fully done yet, some modifications still have to be done, so it will be even nicer :D

I dont even know what excellent and suicides r meant for, so im not intersted in it. ok for acurancy, dont care of it so much though; i agree it would be nice to see all players in one shot, and more interesting the totals of players in red, in blues and spectating.


If u want u could make the average of time played and score in minutes (its the simpler way we evaluate "how good i am doing"). Another thing could be to do a stats page at the end of the match with the best scorer, the best thawer, best in accurancy etc and why not the best player concerning our 333 score chart categories (best in 0 mins, best in 3 mins, best in 10 mins etc..).... i like it cos it means "more winners", not only the one who scres more... dunno if u knwo what i mean.


Anyway i know what i said its not so important, its just a "plus" if u have time!

yea that ture i do get a 500mb move in 30 mis, when iam getting my bease speed (256 k/s) but i was not getting that there i was getting only 25 K/s, so it take me ages. mayb Spc was doing somthing when u tryed it b4. i will test again, but it mhight have been routed wrong from where iam, iam in the uk!. any way i will see.

it's final time to post requests for efreeze mod, if u still have any (for both client and server side) .. 95% of what we said is (will be) done .. skyhawk, i've done ur rail reload time request, so if anyone have any more requests, post it in this week, cos this is the last week i'll spend coding it .. i'll only fix bugs if there'll be any and nothing more .. or if some cheat will appear which needs to be banned ..


also i will write documentation of variables and put them in mod, but i would like to see them in different languages like: french,italian,spanish,german, dutch,polish, .... i prefer as much languages as possible, so if u'll have like 15-30 mins to spend and translate to ur language, i'll be gratefull and u'll get credited in readme and in credits which will be when quitting quake ..

there are bigger maps out there






ermm q3dm89 for example it huge it one of the bigguest maps but if u want even bigger add gohuge it a defrag map but could be used as a place to play freaze. as for new maps as i am back and have some time i will add map packs for server on my site sometime this week, it a fast server so download will be fast then just unzip to c:\bla\quake 3 arena\baseq3 folder and u are done.

+ agreed with reb, it also says you edited them so why not edit them into 1? :p

first about hook trail color: this can be done of course, but more information will have to be send from server to client .. i've tried with just client changing to see how this will look like and i can tell u it sux ass .. it's so strange when lot's of ppl are using diff colors, i can bet u would agree with me here .. maybe more usefull is that team grapple trail can be froced, which would be ok, so just 2 different grappl trail colors ..


chee, if u check to do's u can see that forcing team rail trail color in client is already done .. just for u mate :D


 

also tell me if u wanna any special CROSSHAIR color(s) to be implemented in .. also if u want ur own tell me, i can do like /ef_crosshairColor "rebtor" and rebtors special will be there, just an example ..

when i say the hook trail that's what i meant m8...force it to teams -- i was thinking do it the same as team rails? enemy rails are green, so are their hooks - ur teams' are red

well crosshair colors ive never cared for....white is just perfect for me....i even used white enemy models (when used osp) ...just stands good for me.......

only thing i would do with crosshairs is add some new designs...but that's me being picky so don't take it serious  
that is one of the things i like in efreeze i have my own grappletrailcolor :D but for croshair white will do fine its also so small i hardly see it. :D

about crosshair color, as some ppl were asking me in past how to change crosshair color in osp, i thought this can be usefull too .. also i play on picpim 6 and have very very bright walls (textures, if i can call them textures on picpim 6 :D) and dark players, so my white crosshair is at the point where it's almost not seen anymore :D

menus are almost finally done, everything is in freeze colors, u're able to bind a grapple key in weapon menu, u're able to set grapple trail color in players options .. u're also able to choose to join weaker team (peng's suggestion) in ingame menu's .. i made also, if u set ur connection to LAN/Cable/xDSL, it will also set snaps to 40, if lower, then on 20 ..


anything other u want implemented in menus? any other settings?

if you make enemy models in it, also the model you want to use for your enemy's :D onley if its not to mutch work :D. mabey rate options also in menu so peeps that dont understand console can put it to 100 :D.

yesterday i was experimenting with forcemodel what it could do and would it couldn't -- i made 4 easy binds and had forcemodel on everyone except me, this was broken we some1 new came in - all i had to do is refresh it

so why not just make a small system on it that it refreshes the forcemodel every # of seconds or so -- maybe make it player determined like there is pb_sleep to slow down or speed up the checks incase ur comp isnt handling it

or you could make it that tab makes a refresh of who's in and anyone new in it gets themselves a forcemodel

(btw binds were: key 1 - forcemodel 0; key 2 - forcemodel 1; key 3 - team_model tankjr; key 4 - team_model major

makes ur model major and their model tankjr...works like enemy models)
in osp they force evertime you respawn, cos when you enter the game you havend got enemy models till you die for the first time

ok here's the RC1 as promised, some stuff is cutten out, like anti cheat and similar, cos i'm working on new cheat engine ..

this is the knockback on ur team mates for rail and gauntlet .. so if u set this to 20 and u hit ur team mate with rail it will move him as little as 20 units .. i just enhanced it, cos before it was always 0 (so u can't shoot him away) .. it doesn't have impact on any frozen bodies, nor ur frozen team mates nor enemies .. if u wanna set knockback for them, g_knockback will do it ..

respawns are solution, as this was what i was thinking to do, but it will happen to new users that they'll have different model before some client in game won't respawn .. if this is ok, this can be done today ..

I sometimes dislike fire

Yea I have a small problem but this is probably not something on server side but on mine... I can't enter my own server, it loads everything till "awaiting snapshot", then freezes and I go to the enter cd key page again. Now I copied the server files into my efreeze folder, after i made a new efreeze folder and all the files are exactly the same... autodownload is on. I have no idea what this could be. I play baseq3 with cgx, could this have something to do with it? In demon UK (pure server) it just unloads cgx and i can enter the server anyway so i'm kinda confused, don't know what to do. Oh yea, I could enter rens' server without a problem, this makes it even more awkward.

also scoreboard was updated and can now fill up to 32 clients, but 28 will be limit to look nicer ..


one more question, for autoscreenshoots and demos u want that mod will automaticaly set name to like Sep-09-MOTD_OF_SERVER for screenshots and demos? or u want default like screenshoot001.tga (jpg) and demo001.dm_67 ?

None there is this small thing, not a problem or so but i'll tell you anyway. If you take a gauntlet, and switch weapon and shoot at the same time, it will instantly shoot, no weapon switch time. So yea, you could camp somewhere and no one could here you and then shoot someone coming near you without giving them a chance to hear you switch weapon and shoot back.

/ad_listip doesn't work at all (unknown cmd) but you can use /g_banIPS if you have the rcon instead.


/ad_mute seems to work properly when you mute someone and type /ad_clientlist, it says mute "yes" but the client can still talk, so not working either.


Apart from the bugs I have a small question to either poison or none, dunno if this is an efreeze issue or just freeze. I wanted to make an efreeze ctf server, so I used the efreeze unpure ctf cfg, it all works well except there is no flag... is there a command for this or is this a bug?

I have min packets 30 on league serv but ganja can set 15.. maybe the reason is he hasn't got efreeze files?

lyor, use configs which are included in the zip file of mod, there u have everything u need and everything will work as it should .. like adam said above, u need to change these 2 commands in config for flags to appear, as they don't need to be in tdm they're disabled .. use CTF config in eFreeze if u have problems ...


adam: if server is not pure, the min/max commands will only work if client have mod .. server side can't force things, only client side can .. if league server is unpure, of course if he uses something different it won't change ..


madjak: mostly all servers have same version, just stema left old one on his league server, so if u played there that's the reason .. u can also have old scoreboard in new eFreeze if u type /ef_scoreboard 0 or a short version of new if /ef_scoreboard 2 ...


update: also adam, if u change min/max commands, map needs to change for new values to work ..

ok got a problem i think some of my efreeze files have been changed to noob mode i belive it to be osp i deleted the osp file from q3 files but still im seeing bright green and bright red moddles cant stand it :( any help for meeeeee please

just got thinking now u know how on noraml freeze there was a bug that made it so u did not get your real ping it was 48 if u had your maxpacks set right well ever thought it was put in there for a reson to find out whos not using 100 maxpacks ?????????????? think on this one
