Ennemy name overlay

When I asked people why they use a fake name, a few reasons were named: one is that sometimes you're tired and don't wanna say hello, another is that people react differently whether they face a good player or a noob.


I believe the later is a normal behaviour, though in war times, you have no idea who you're facing.


This is why I'd like the name overlay to be disabled on ennemies (it should remain on frozen bodies and team mates, as in war time, u know who u fragged (thanks to the ID every military man wears) and u also know who your team mates are).


Of course, if it could be a server-side eFreeze option, it would even be better.

I think no enemy location shall be in such overlay cause it would be unfair. Though even names of frozen/live enemies is the information which can be used and in this matter it could be treated as a cheat. Going further, even location of your team-mates could be treated as a cheat. OMG! We're all cheaters!!! :)
well the TEAM overlay shows only team mates, frozen ones and active ones ... But I guess you meant the names when you go over with crosshair?? You can disable that for all with /cg_drawcrosshairnames ... So you want this or similar command to disable only names from enemies or what?

This can never be a server-side setting, server side things are same for all, running speed, hook speek, thawing speed, gravity, what you're saying is pure client sided ...

Indeed, I mean the crosshair overlay, and I believe it can be disabled from eFreeze server side client code.


I don't want it to be purely client settings side, or it won't prevent clients to display it. We should have a server setting which says whether crosshairEnnemyNameOverlay is viewable or not, then the client side code of eFreeze should react accordingly and avoid the client to be able to see the ennemy name when he aims at him.
