!333!Rebtor send me a mail with his problem and a solution to a punkbuster-problem on 1.32:

Problem: Kick because of pb_sleep

Solution: problem was that in my config file of
EFreeze the pb_sleep was set to 450, the server required it to be 0,
somehow you cant set it from within the game, so you have to
"bruteforce" it by editing the efreeze config file as well as the config
file in the q3basiq folder.

We expierenced some problems with PB and other stuff, if you have problems or solutions to it, post them here!

That's normal message. Can you connect to server or you're getting kicked right after? If so just scroll up your console and you should be able to see the reason why you were kicked. In most cases it's because some illegal chars in nickname or empty key.

I have this problem also, i cant play 1.32. ¿what i need?

can you specify your problem a bit?! meanwhile look on the frontpage! there's all you need for 1.32. if you have the pb_sleep problem:  look up the page and you find the resolution!

Unallowed names: UnnamedPlayer, different signs in names, swear words, just .  ,  - or signs like this!

You also can't use few words in your nickname. For example 'ass' is forbidden so 'assault' nick cannot be used as well. Some of these permissons are sick, but some are really usefull.

 

Doing name limits is a shame in my humble opinion.. If we really want to secure servers against people who may insult others via nick or such, I think Shiva's player council is way better than stupid nick recognition patterns...

Is PB a "closed" bundle of features or can we select which ones to activate?

 

its preset but you can change some settings, onley thing we NEED to keep in mind is that all our servers should use the same pb settings, if not you will be kicked on one to be able to play on a other,

furthermore its sad to say but for punkbuster not to kick you you need a valid \ unique key. if 2 people with the same key are in the server it will kick both.

I have the solution to these problems, first remove your quake. second install quake, and third go to play.

You don't even have to install quake. All you need is point release 1.32 and pak0.pk3 and efreeze mod. Don't waste your time installing q3 from cd.

haha nigga, that simply means you're trying to go on servers that are on another version lol.

if you're currently on 1.32 you'll only be able to go onto servers that are on 1.32.

You can go back on others if you switch version.

protical version 68.. hmm sounds like ur on another version trying to get on a 1.32 server lol.

Switch to 1.32 then try or just ask King to go round ur house and help.

in all seeing eyes you must configure access for each version of quake with   ...

right click on version number 

custom config

cmd line :  F:\Quake 131\quake3.exe   (for 1.31  protocol 67)

cmd line :  F:\Quake 132\quake3.exe   (for 1.32  protocol 6

i dont install 2 times !

u have a 1.31 version ! u want a 1.32 ! you do a copy of your 1.31 version , you patch this copy with 1.32 pach and name it 1.32 !

you have now 2 versions of quake

i dont think that version switcher  was  a good solution because files q3config.cfg  remain the same ones for all the version , if you play on 1.32 with a 1.31 config i think you would not have problem , but if you play on 1.31 with a 1.32 config i thing its not good !!

i use version switcher with you 2 exec configs, why have twice 6 GB of Quake on your disk if not needed

i know a lot of ppls who use version switcher , and i know a lot of ppls who format  hard drive  every month because they have an instable quake with too many bugs .

 

Saristian could you please point out why one would need to have a configuration file different weither on 1.31 and 1.32 and also why it would be bad when having two different files to use your 1.31 one on version 1.32?

i have 2 quakes installed for years now and i never had any problems! i will leave it this way! and my quake is about 3 GB or something, not that big i dont like version switcher, and i hope i can soon de-install my 1.31 version

 

Ive had only one quake version for long along with two extra exe files: quake3_130.exe and quake3_131.exe

If i wanna play either 1.30 or 1.31, i launch one of the extra exe. If i wanna play 1.32, i launch quake3.exe.

My quake 3 version is 1.32 but 1.32 updates seem backward compatible with 1.30 and 1.31 as long as you use dedicated executable files for each version.

And i think it's not more than 600MB

 

 

get more custom maps then ben

My defrag folder is more than 2GB...And thats nothing.
ofx q3switch works very well.

its not bad, but some settings are not optimal, 1.32 has some little tweaks in the netcode (for example maxpackets is no longer limited at 100 but its limited at 125 now (no i wont whine about this at this moment), so i could imagine that some people use diffent configs for 1.31 because you can tweak it a bit and its slightly different for both versions.

alright tis is getting frustrating xD i have did everything what ya all told me to do =P and still i cant get on 1.32 >< this the message that i now get : Punkbuster Client : Warning: Pb kicks for name spamming and name stealing and non standard characters and all PB restrictions on this server, Krish has been permanently banned from this game server via punkbuster... hoowkaay what should i do now -_-'

"punkbuster kicks for spamming..." this message is always shown on servers, but that is not a reason why you could have not been able to enter the server! you must try to figure your real problem out! do as you have been told: scroll up your console after you have been kicked (use your mousewheel) there you should see the real problem. "nigga-X has been kicked because of namestealing, snaps 100 (not allowed) empty cd-key.........

there are hundreds of possible reasons why a player can be kicked/not be able to enter a server. we need detailed information what exactely your problem is or we might not be able to help you!

rofl abby ive scrolled a thousand times in mine console and i always get the same text as before :P so i dont know what the prob is -_-' anyway :P this sucks i gonna buy the original version of q3 thats a lot easier i think XD that solved my problem then

If you can't see the reason why you're getting kicked join to some free server with some player who can play on 1.32. Then join teams and if you'll be kicked second player should see the reason. That may be a better way to trace your problem.
