Anyone can give me a tip on how getting a lower ping or...to shoot more realtime...anything :)
I heard mathew has a command wich may help

Hm... I use 2 commands:

/rate 25000

/cl_maxpackets 10

Well - helps a bit (my ping changed from 110-120 to 70-80)

yep already tryed them up ... if u use cl_maxpackets u have trouble hitting bodyes ...it's more difficult so if u have 30 maxpackets u shoot where u have to shoot only that u shoot a bit more later than u do with 10 :|..so none of both is better :)
Dude - ur going to pretty much trash urselves  with those amounts

If u have 512k-1mb: /rate 10000-13000 /snaps 60
/cl_timenudge -10 /cl_maxpackets 125 -- On some servers you may not be able to get the extra 25 with maxpackets..But its not a terrible difference neway

If you have 2-4mb: /rate 18000-23000 and all the rest stay the same

I don't think any of you have a better conn than this, but if you do just let me know..

Also /com_maxfps 125 should make the feel alot smoother...If ur vid card can pump more and you know it then do a max of 350..

just buy a better connection luc :P or play on servers that are closer to your house.

but there is not mutch you can do, you can maby get your ping 3-5 lower but it still depents more on your ISP than yourself

True, but every little helps

i know someone with a better connection our own server suplier stema

he got 10 mbit but i ain't think he needs a lower ping

Wow..10mb is sick :o :D

n1

Meh if Stema asks for it I'll be happy to give it, but like you said with 10mb who would need it lol

Well, the connection i have is synch 10mbits with fiber in fact u can find some ppl from italy with same connection, having ping lower than 20 on 333 servers.

Otherwise i still have 150-160 in usa servs...so bandwith its not enaugh to have a good ping unfortunatelly! and as u may imagine ping helps a lot in these games!

cu, stema

Ah ic, if the person hosting the usa serv has good settings and the players have good settings people from Europe can play there with 80 ping on 512k conn..Not 100% sure on how the server must set it though...More to look into :p

Agree Stema  connection wont solve the problem sometimes

Quake III uses UDP/IP (UDP over IP) to send data to the clients connected to the game server. For those of you less-than-up-to-speed on network protocols, UDP/IP is NOT a guaranteed communication method: a.k.a. it's connectionless. It has to be to keep the game as real-time as possible. Hence, data packets may get lost between the server and your computer

Kill Mee told :

Quake III uses UDP/IP (UDP over IP) to send data to the clients connected to the game server.

Are you sure about UDP ? I think TCP !!! UDP is good but only for local networks. I create some applications for internet communications. So if I use UDP I need to check amount of packs which the client received. And I spend time for that more than if I use TCP protocol (though it works more slowly). TCP is more reliable.
Its deffo UDP, because as you just said TCP are slower..So seeing as quake = fast it needs the speed of the packets otherwise it would be a poor game really...Idd they are much less reliable though..
its UDP, TCP for lan only, If u joina Lanserver u can decide between UDP or TCP, over interent 1 choice UDP
You were right guys about UDP.
Hehe, Damn straight! :D :p :D
