got q4 today at about 9am

been playing it like a mad man...

already been called cheater 3 times? lol

single player ive not even played, doesnt really interest me...but been doing multiplayer...

#1 graphics can go up to an excellent amount...looking v nice

#2 the physics are very similar to q3, can strafe, rj, pj, gj etc

#3 the console maybe is a bit buggy? as of yet ive not got it to work...neither the normal key in q3 or q4s style work (q4 = ctrl-alt-tilde   doesnt work tho)

#4 weapons are nice, so far seem good balance..but not got a ctf game in yet so not fully sure (ctf = best way to check balance imo)

edit: ah did some config tweaking and got console to work:

seta com_allowconsole "1"
bind "`" "toggleconsole"

makes the normal q3 key for console for q4

hehe ya got it for some hours and already figured out some commands, thats my cheee

anyway have fun, still 2 hours left here for q4 :/

well i onley played the SP mode of quake 4 (cracked version does not work online blablabla) still have to buy my origional but wanted to know if it would run on my pc first. well i hope the MP is better as the SP cos they better should have called that doom4 cos there is noting new in it acceps mabey that you walk with a team most of the time instaid of alone like in doom 3 its again a walk in dark place and monsters jump on you game BAH.

can someone tell me if in MP the weapons have to reload like in SP to cos man that sucks shot 8 rounds with a shotgun then you need to reload and you have to push buttons like in doom 3 so there is no speed in that game at all.

peem im a bit confused on what u mean..

in ur option menu there's an option for auto-reload..and its fast..
ive not played sp cos i knew it would be like that so i cant really compare speed, but it is fast paced on mp -- btw fps is close up battles is really frustrating....goes so low

shotgun is 8 rounds tho i think...its only 2 less than in q3

yeah but in quake 3 you did not have to reload after shooting 8 rounds if you had 20 rounds you could shoot them all 20 after eother, in quake 4 SP if you have lets say 32 bullets you can onley shoot 8 then you have to wait like 5 seconds before you can shoot 8 bullets again, you can however shoot wile you onley reloaded one or 2 bullets but then your gun is empty verry soon.

i checked it now in MP you dont have that reload thankgod well now i onley need a new pc and then i can play

that does not supprise me mutch, doom 3 had limitations in MP cos that fucking engine must send and process the shader (lighteffects and shadows) data from every player what results in bad FPS. that was why they had limited tha max player in doom to 4 or 8. same engine now capable of handeling a lot more players but still detail is always eating resources. well lets think like this when quake 3 came out the best card you could have to play it was a Voodoo 2. and those play quake 3 onley on 800 x 600 on low detail so they keep the tradition standing.

ah didn't think of that , but that means i need to get a shitload of cash in about 6+months to run this thing well

also the limitations of the engine are very clear..if u go in a server with 8+ player u get a warning saying: "This server allows for many players to join, which may cause considerable lag - Proceed?"

kinda bad but meh

twigg: idd its doom3 single player...multiplayer is like q3 again tho...singleplayer i am dissapointed in tho, its just:
Darkness - Bit of Light - Darkness - Enemy - Darkness - Light - Darkness - Darkness - Flash light in supreme darkness - Light - enemy....

ive tried for past 2hours...but its impossible without fraps, which wont allow me to do what i want...

Avidemo = only if the demo extension is in .demo...but all online demos come in .netdemo

Avicmddemo = absolutely nothing? i made a cmddemo to test and still nothing

Avigame = the closest i got...i can get the load up screen (like the load up of maps in q3) but nothing past that...

made .netdemo , .cmddemo , .game   and nothing

i did get .tga of each time i tried...but they show nothing...Raven/ID will have to sort this at a later patch

i do think anyone with single player dloaded (the crack version) could view a demo from online..so if any interested in seeing what multiplayer is like (doubt it) lemme know and ill mail it to u with instructions

as for me i bought q4!! i think i owe it to ID software, for all the time i played a cracked quake3 b4 buying it

still have to find some good ping eu servers or better sometimes i find them sometimes they r not in list boh! maybe they  r more than 1000 and standard q4 browser cant handle more? and where r full/empty filters??... for sure i need something similar to freeze (dt instagib today doesnt work!)... boh dunno i find it a bit chaotic...i still think q3 efreeze is better

now i go for the message of cheetos about the consolle commands!

if i see some of u have the game as well we could try to open an instagib q4 serv, who knows maybe for the xmas party!

after playing cracked quake 3 for years i just bought quake3 and quake 4 at once hope MP runs like SP then i should be able to get in to 8 player servers without to mutch preformance loss i hope. but it looks nice

just got my copy of quake 4 but i dont see servers in my browsers (they say on forums the master is down again does anyone know a all seeing eye look alike where i can find servers?

dunno about master server but i tried yesterday allseeyingeye and it seems it doesnt support q4 final release yet!

if no servers in browser try this :

add that line in q4base/autoexec.cfg (open it with notepad) :   

                                seta net_master0 "192.246.40.28:27650"
