im buying a new gfx card soon i did not realy think mutch of cs wasa not the trpe of game i was thinking it was gona be sorry for not lissening u u guys any way i think im gona start playing Delta Force: Black Hawk Down what do u guys think of that any good im trying to find out if its a big online game i hope it is i played Delta Force at my m8 house was cool any way back to the card im gooing off topic and the topic has not even started lol

im gona buy a Evesham GeForce 6800 128MB DDR AGP (OEM) so far thats what i like do any of u know of any better cards than this one thats about £170:00 NO MORE than that though i looked last night for them and found the cheepes price i think @

i like the one up form this on the gt vertion but still a little out of my price range so im gona get the none gt one so what do guys think should i get this one of do u know of a better one please get back to me i will come back to q3 if u do :P

about that card i like almost all nvidia's BUT what are your pc specs because if you have a simple pc its a waist of momney buying a good cart like that cos you wont use the power off it couse your motherbord or proc, and ram cant handle it.


well about DF BHD its a nice game, good community, good gameplay. but the worst netcode i have ever seen you play with permanent lag and peeps are warping true the maps. you will have to find some nice servers many servers got silly rulles like no camping in sniper maps and if you left your own spawnpoint your baseraping also you will have to find a server witch got normal maps maps are loaded off the server when joining and can be changed by the serveradmin so there are many custom maps but many of them suck.

yeah that card should be fine dude - i think reb was mainly concerned for PSU...but 80% of comps with 2.0ghz could run it...so 2.6ghz should be fine
(2.0 might not be if some1 who has that reads this and wants to buy...cos 2.0ghz doesnt need as much psu as the card so the psu might be too low)

well i have a raden 9800 Pro graffic card with 256-bit DDR memory, on platform 2.8 althon and 512 ram, and it work like a dream for me, so your spec would handle my card well, i get good fps on all servers now, i got my card as a gift but i think the price was about £120 ish, have a look at E-buyer.co.uk there are a good place and i got my pc from there, and it can be a really fast site, i oroderd a hard drive from them on a monday and by wednesday i had it, so have a look, i think the URl is www.e-buyer.co.uk, but i can not remember. it been a while since i got anything from them.

well a 2600 is more than enough for this card, (chee a xp 2600 is not 2.6 ghz its a rating its 2.3 or something around it) i mean if you put this cart in a 2.0 GHZ the preformance compaired to a older card like the fx 5900 so little that its not worth the price of buying this more expencive one. like i have a xp 2000 (1.6 ghz) if i would buy that cart it would be a waist of money because the preformance difference between the card i have now a (GF 4 TI 4200 slightly overclocked) would be not worth the price.

the 2600 prcessors run at diffrent speeds i u can change the speed when your pc is starting up on bos and there are diffrent vertions of them as well last i saw it was a baron 2600xp meant to be a llittle bit better than the other one b4 it  mine runs at 2.16ghz dont know if its a newer one than yours but its a bit fast :P arrrrrrrrrrrrr i want q3 all ready

it hasn't been put in the comparison chart (there are so many models of geforce they dont include all) but most geforce 6600/6800 will out-do ati's 9800

where i got the chart (its atm showing info on doom3 and the cards fps on it)

one thing i find with geforce is that it performs much better on higher qualities than ati cards do...
so if u want high quality when u play get geforce
if u only want low quality get ati's

dont know for sure with is faster but the gforce is a newer generation cards. also i like gforce more.

hmmm thanks all for your replys not 100% sure about cards yet thinking the g force is a little nicer  the man thing that this has made me want to do is come back to q3 u are all so nice here

but it would feel daft as i sead i would leave and that would be going against my word so

clockspeeds does not say mutch if you compaire differend cores, my ati 9700 mobile at 300 mhz is way faster as my Gforce 4200 ti at 400 mhz.

about the xp2600 have many clockspeeds that is partly true actualy it are 3 because there are 3 cores for the xp2600. madjack you say you can change the mhz in the bios yes true but that is called under or over clocking so that is not speeds on with your cpu is supposed to be running like my 2000+ runs officialy at 1.66 ghz. but mine is slightly overclocked to 1.75 (old core and crapy cooling cant get mutch more out of it. )

i will explain why i like Nvidia more then ATI. i have a ati in my notebook and played many hours at a friends place on one, my desktop got a nvidia Gforce 4 4200ti and many of my friends have nvidia. well the brightness in ati cards get screwed when you switch in opengl games like quake, doom. programs like msn comme true my ati and fuck off the intire screen at my nvidia they comme true but dissepair and noting is changed in brightness or what so ever. furthermore nvidia optimises for openGL cos they also program in it. they bring out linux drivers with actualy work verry well (ati brings drivers for linux but they have great preformance lose). i heard lots of problems with cooling ati 9800 coolers quit after a wile and cards breake down without any reson (i hear more of those story's about ati than about nvidia. at the game marks nvidia wins in the game benchmarks at almost every test. i like the looks of the screens of nvidia better (ati and nvidia have differend technieks for generating 3d and lightning so that is differend

but i have to say they are both good companies, they are both selled many times but now i tried both i will for sure go for a Nvidia.

what is this pipes u talk about i read about diffrent cards having diffrent numbers of pips but :S still dont know whay it means i go look at web for ansures

i thought they where something like data channels in the chip but i don't know for sure never the less, more is better

let me say it like this in the netherlands the 256 mb version of the FX5200 is 80 euro's new. so i think 30 pounds is a nice price for a secondhand card. about the GF 2 i think 10 pound well if he finds someone who will have it for that kind of money that card sucks ass no modern game will run on it above 640 x 480 but that card is 4 years old so i think your friend and you made some good deals.

of this card he has run doom 3 so its not all bad and if things go my way i will get them 2 m8 in to q3 ehehhe some more people to own ehehe we are trying to find a game that we will all play oin the net my m8 got a 7??k connection so he gona set up a server some times and we just play agains bots or eatch other but does any one know if servers are easy or does it bepent what game your playing q3 servers look easy to set up but i did not try it it would only get me confused

in some games you can just setup a server by clicking in some menu's in quake you need to make a file with the settings and a file to load them in quake its not hard if you have the files

i hope i can get them to play q3 eheh so i cant own them stema all ready has the files on the downloads so i can ge them easy the one whos getting my gfx card plays ut2003 so i think i cant get him to like q3 easy
