So, let me say you: We want buy community server. We want run there 2 FN servers and one community q3 server, like E.F.C - Old Friends.

It costs around 500 euro per year, so I suggest to get 20 euro from 25 people

 

What will payer receive?

For people, who will pay 20 euro or more: admin password

for everyone: TeamSpeak 14 slots channel, borrowing server for clan trainings, MUCH FUN!

 

What we expect?

No crying about ping caused by routing problems. We can't solve Your ISP's problems, just call him!

No power abusing ( no "I will ban kret coz i dont like him!" )

No password sharing

heya, I want to add that with many people paying it will be difficult to serve everyone's needs and problems without argumentation. you all have to be very mature with passwords and decisions who plays on the servers and when, cause with 10-20 people having passwords it can lead to problems fast! just a tip from me: make a forum and more importantly a "timetable" like on FN page to book the server(s) for events - those who pay should have priorities. About what abz said, he is definitely right about the way we should take care of the passwords. We must make sure that those who get one:
- Will not share it
- Will not abuse his power
- Will not use the password for any changes or activities without talking to the other password owners.

Maybe it is better that not everyone who pays gets FULL acces to the server. So that some things can only be altered by Adam and other people who have been doing a lot for our community the past years. Talking about Adam, Doomy, Abz, None for example (and others srry if i didnt mention you!) These are people who should have full acces!

If we ever need another server for an Efreeze League or something just setup another quake3 server (since this server is capable) with different passwords.

Nope, Psylle, sorry. It's the same price for everyone. Save your money, and try to find more donators, it's the best thing you can do.

i dont know why everyone is chucking in 20 euros just to get an admin password. Surely there should be an admin team which grows when members of the community are more trusted and are interested in becoming admins of servers.

Good idea. Only flaw i see in this plan is 25 admins = trouble. Regulate it and hopefully should be fine.

For example, any abuse will mean they will lose admin password and no refund. I'm sure there will be more than 25 people wanting to donate. Anyway, just an idea.

right count me in as always . anyways b4 getting it we will have to find a decent datacenter which can provide stable and generally good pings located in frankfurt i guess? (if some isp makes problems im sry but that happens to the best :P look at mine for example ) depending on the servers hardware etc. i can contribute more as well as psy to make sure (as good as) every1 gets what he expects this to be .

To fn servres, admin pass will be given only to FN admins/refs!

On public server - 25 of admin can be a problem, but there will be rules about that, so abuser will suffer.

hetzner i ping same as netdirekt just i dont have any spikes so far ... always between 33/34 and 38/39. same counts for nd.de but there i get 50 - 80 every 5th or 6th packet.

would be good to know some polish pings for hetzner.de

ye, netdirekt is budget datacenter but as i rememver, it was giving lowest ping, almost like sheepserv.

Leaseweb one costs 40euro.

If we want good quality of connection ( no flux ), we should choose hosteurope, but pings will be higher than nd.

You won't get 25 people donating here, believe me ... Some will move away when they'll realize that they need a credit card and paypal, so my suggestion is you either cut the participants down to 15 or you split the cost to once per half year, which would be much easier to achieve ... 250€ per 15 with fee's would be about 17€ per head ... Some discount will be lost that way, but it's more achievable ... Do the math if they donate 20 or 25€ for first six months, you won't need that much people and server can be up in few days ...



As for leaseweb, we had a test server last month on it and it's very good for West and Central Europe, but Poland gets mostly the infamous 64 ping (or more) and Russians don't get the green ping like on German servers (Averagely around 80 for them) ... Also Monkey said it feels like playing on 80 ping for him ... They offer extreme quality though, would deffo be my pick, but we do need to look at community as whole ...

so there is still the location/network problem - if money is involved, it should be handled as fair and transparent as possible (just to remind you) cause that topic makes people do worst things (not in this height and community of course, I'm just saying...) so people who donate should be sure about it. because when people for example from pl do contribute and get yellow ping for it they will be dissappointed and for good reason! So please handle the topic carefully - we must try to find a solution that's fair and acceptable for all - we have a great opportunity here and shouldn't waste it!

If its something like 20-30 euros per year count me in of course. Indeed we, as 333 clan, wanted to buy a server as well, so dunno if all of our members will be able to contribute to both servers (cos our serve rwill cost much more cos we r less).

Actually i think the real problem will be the management for this server: if everyone who pays claim rights..it will be a mess. And 25 ppl with admins powers it will be a mess too... i dunno exatly what an admin can do... but if everyone starts to kick everyone...well the server will be a chaos: with FN server more than once we had a war and the sevrer was already taken...and we got kicked! i think, even if we contribute, we shoudl be able to take this and dont start to cry and kick everyone or ruin the game.

We should take it as a community contribution, thought expecially for ppl who cannot contribute (students, no jobs etc)... i mean, we dont buy and admin password, we buy the possibility for many ppl to play better. So, concluding i would tell admin password only to ppl who already have FN server password cos i think overall its been managed pretty well so far, no?

hmm just buy a few gs like code mentioned there, its (50%) off right now and you can have your 6 month term no problems. Plus you dont have to worry about everyone sending money to one person since you can all pay direct to gs with their "clanpay" system.

26 players in frankfurt or amsterdam for 6 months: €108.80

If I'm allready here, I checked that server. It's the worst that we have here. Worst ping (+/-70) for my connection even that I have 31 on FN servers, 15 on Adam's bedzie bedzie servers and 45-55 on this one from england. Seriously, I have no idea where did you get it, and why do I have so bad ping on it. Congratulations, it couldn't be easy

EDIT: Still it is playable for me if that's what you mean... I didn't saw any packetlost (on empty sv ofc), the question is how about full server. But FN is much better.

all i can say now: 75 from my parents home. might change from my flat but not too much for sure. anyways old sheepserv.de admin told me there will be 30 new quadcore servers in their new location within 1-2 weeks and ill get a pricelist + ping-ip asap. ill let u know then as well.

Just remember, the world doesnt evolve around polaks, EVERY1 has played with shit ping on FN... nothing gets done, but aslong as you polaks have a nice ping every thing is alright? cmon to fuck.

Boothy, just remember that I'm not an usual POLAK ffs. I've got better pings that most efreeze players, it doesn't matter where they come from. And I gave you my opinion as a some1 who have really good pings everywhere, not as a polak ffs. First think and realize the facts...

Well burzyk... your speaking from the polish side, And you may have a good ping everywhere, so why complain about this ping? First off its ALOT more stable than the FN server in use right now, Secondly it's not run off a Dedicated server along with 5/6 other servers so it wont lag out at any point during a war, You check the difference we done tests on it last night and it is the smoothest server ive played on yet.

Well why dont you tracert the i.p see where your ISP takes you before pinging the server, Code done this and see his was going USA before the server.

Could lower your ping if this is happening and phone your ISP up and get it sorted.

to me it seems that the whole datacenter has some strange routing. anyways im not rly happy with the server and even tho its true - not the whole world evolves around poland - theirs still more than 50% of the community which comes from that strange country :P. what i wanna know now: hows the server for russians? if it also sux for them we have pt, aut, rus, pl with shit pings and that finally makes 75% of the community :o. anyways for those who remember the zS servers .. ill try to get an equal to better server from that company and as i remember pings there were about the same as on netdirekt servers BUT without the packetloss and the bad cpu . at least i know that french players had ~30, i had 33, germans had ~30, nl had ~30, burzyk had 30, other polaks had low pings as well and evol had ~30 so i take that for most UK pings.

as i said b4 ill get that server in 1-2 weeks depending on the hoster & ill keep u posted as soon as i get something new from them. dont be mad boothy but honestly i think the server u got there has some problems which sadly would take too much effect on our community and as far as i can tell we dont want to upset polaks as we will only get polish fn servers sooner or l8er then.

Well server is being moved to 'Frankfurt' as we speak, Give it an hour or so and ill have an i.p for you to ping and when its set up I'll let you all know, And then you can go on the server and see how much better it is.

i didn't say "never", so it's all about ping of other players. I wasnt sure coz code had USA ping, then burzyk ( lowest polish ping player :P ) had 70.

My ping was fine.

if your honest... no1 so far has had a major problem with the server. it is more central into europe than the freezing point server and most people has had pretty good pings on it. as ive read from quite a few of you the server is more stable than the current fraggednations server... if this is the case then surely if this is more stable it should be considered to replace the current FN server??

I've my 30-35 normal ping. Maybe even just 2-3 more ms.

as i said ill test it from my own flat l8er today and post here. still ill get that other new server as well and theres nothing speaking against 2 - 3 official fn servers as nowadays we have more and more trainings taking place at the same time as the wars so i guess the more servers the better .

thats from my parents home to defs ip btw:

Minimum = 59ms, Maximum = 59ms, Mittelwert = 59ms

so at my flat its should look like

Minimum = 65ms, Maximum = 68ms, Mittelwert = 66ms

and thats netdirekt from my parents home:

Minimum = 32ms, Maximum = 34ms, Mittelwert = 33ms

Minimum = 38ms, Maximum = 40ms, Mittelwert = 39ms

As we had our test server on leaseweb last month it was mostly polish people and russians who got high ping there ... So as this fraggednation test server is on leaseweb as well, guess it's gonna be similar if not the same ...

are you in the uk? we should rule out anyone with tiscali/virgin etc and if u know the bad ones in your own countries lol =)

the bad 1 in my country is the 1 i have and the only 1 i get here <3. tho its gr8 at my parents i ping terahost with 24 there and all other german servers with 30.

just one thing though, please remove that retarded spawn protection that doesn't let you shoot... it's bad enough when people camp spawn spots...

Thats the whole idea - why let them kill someone if they cannot be killed themselves?

I've reduced it to 500ms/0.5sec. It was set too long when I connected, an old cfg, sorted it out. But how often have you been shot by someone simply pressing mouse1 when they spawn, even if you shot them (hitting the spawn protection) first?

Anyway, update a universal server settings thing in the rules section for servers =p then at least we'll know what we're going on...

Don't stand in front of spawns... ye i agree that there should be a FN config available for public use but if Lynx wants to donate that server I'm sure it'll have the same config as the other servers.

looks exactly like the one I found for the efleague - cant see any spawn protection? There is the 5 starting armor, which was on tfp yet people complained about no spawn protection - maybe it 'was' actually the lag that saved people in 217? or is there something missing?

aquiss.net , yet if you're down south it might be better to go with multiplay. virgin (ntl) and tiscali (took over jolt.co.uk's nildram, pipex etc) both route randomly (like you go to germany before london) or if your neighbours download over the limit, the whole local exchange gets limited since its pretty hard to just limit one. Plus the added bonus of virgin checking what you download.

66-74 ping and laggy as fuk

current fn server 60 ping. terahost = step down

~60 for me to terahost, same as poland really but a changing ping

well seen as lynx gets in mid 50ish ping on current fn and on new test its 70-80... hardly good is it

31 on terahost and not a single packet lost so far but nvm xD. have another offer in frankfurt (better for those that connect over amsterdam like all the uk-guys) (2.4ghz, 1gb ram, gameserverkenell, 35€) so that would be around the netdirekt offer adam had but 100% optimized for gaming with full backup of all settings, maps etc. that are uploaded, and in case of a crash a backupsystem runs within 1-2 mins. so in february ill give that company a 1-month-trial and after that we can decide .. anyways if u uk guys complain that much also take off the nl servers as its again 60-80 for me and guys like kawa etc.

lynx lags, xenon you lag constantly every X secs so you two are not the right people to comment about servers rofl...

Please try to make decent comments instead of "it sux dick" (lol).

A new ones obviously not going to go through, especially with two admins being the ones getting the weird isp pings . i know terahost is stable etc. but wont go through with kids complaining about slightly higher pings same as tfp didnt have a chance altho u know my opinion (65 ping but stable so i F1'd from the beginning). anyways ill get that ip soon ye but same as with terahost (even let polaks and russians ping it in windows and there wasnt any problem - u see how it is now) im not convinced that pinging only cant be taken as prove for polish connections.

to netdirekt vs the new hoster -> part of my old servercrew will work at that new 1 and i trust these guys to have stable hardware and a good connection without any overselling. netdirekt.de is a cheap masshoster still altho it somehow gets pings that are 2-3 lower than usual german pings. im not rly sure that those lags are only a result of the 733mhz so thats why i want something different.

yup, but we're playing on german servers - isnt it.. strange?

windows pinging is better than relying on the game for people's settings and for those who dont understand them - even if its changed to a trueping mod. e.g. inside the server sub 20 at 100 maxpackets is 31, 40+ can be 64 and 75+ can show as 100. 30ping at low packets can be 20-35, 40 can be 30-50 and if you use the bug you can get 100 down to 60 or 30 down to 15-0 (which warps and alot of people use on the servers with no limits thinking they're cool lol).

aslong as new server gives 60-65 ping then im happy (like the current FN server) (: anything above 65 always feels too laggy (code me lagging badly is when my isp decides its gnna be gay and cut bandwith to area because someones been abusing the internet too much LOL) but im generally 65 and current FN server is good for me (: (if new server matches it i shall be happy)

as an alternative u could google for a prog called "Visual Route" which gives some extra info. maybe even go for the pro version for even more visual stuff xD.

€: visual route will also tell u the names and for most points the location used by your isp etc. so its easier to understand what rly is going on .
