Hey all, Ive got a question about monitors and since im the opposite of nerd I need u all to help me out plz.

So I have always played on a CRT 15/17 inch monitor but now I wanna upgrade to a 24 inch HD LCD monitor... What are your experiences with these things and how is it to play quake on them (cuz thats the number 1 reason of purchase obviously)

Also wich brands are the best for hd monitors, im looking for a samsung or lg but if there are other good ones id love to hear

The fact it's going to be a HD don't change how it will look, the game.
Only movies you download which are HD will function on your monitor, all other movies or vids will be the same.
But HD movies are 4 gb each or even up to 8 gb, instead of the old fashion 700 mb : ) - if you download them.
Samsung is leading the selling, suggest you buy from that brand. For quake itself all LCDs have 1 thing in common,
regardless if they are HD or not, there will be a delay, so first when you go from CRT to LCD it will feel like your PC
is barely carrying the game, but yet, the fps are the same, this delay is something you get used too, it's not an advantage
for your opponents, and i found it easier to aim with bigger screen, when i went from 17 to 22 : )

So if you don't wanna dl big movies, don't waste your money on a monitor coz it says HD, even if it's something to brag about :p

monkeys suggestion would for sure be worth the money :P
I couldnt wait and got myself this one http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=itbusiness&type=monitors&subtype=lcd&model_cd=LS24KIEEFV/EDC

Was 499 euros but all worth it, now I just gotta tryquake on it lol

On a side note, HD movies/TV series quality is amazing.

The other points are all right. The movies media are more expensive (HD DVD or Blue Ray). Films are bigger to download. It won't change anything to Q3.

But now, fast Internet connections are cheap. And downloading such movies takes 1-2 hours (about the time to watch it). Uou can get many of them via BitTorrent or better, Newsgroups.

well for my 2 cents i got a samsung pebble, 22 inch very nice screen and i didnt see any differnce from my old 19 inch CRT to this one other than its bigger ( when i am playing quake) also this screen has a 2 ms responce time which is faster than the human eye, and i love to play my hd games on it, as well as quake, so there u go :F

Just flat screens got a lag, i felt it when i changed. the 5 ms are insignificant imo, i feel it no more. Anyway now its down to 2ms, less than my brain response time =D.
