Hi everyone,

A while ago, during a discussion I learnt Razer and None were playing poker too, specifically no limit texas hold'em. I figure there must be several if not dozens of other no limit texas hold'em players and some who'd like to give a try to this game in here. Hence, why not organise a game one of these days? We can start by playing fake money which is available on many sites for free then we may do some monthly paying tournament. :p

But first, it can also be a discussion thread 8)

I've been playing for 1 year seriously, playing only low stakes tournaments (mostly $5 SNG but I once cashed in a MTT for $240) and low stakes cash games (BB @ $.10 or $.25). I play on PokerRoom.com and here's a BAHH open to discussion:

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed)

MP1 ($25.10)
MP2 ($24.85)
MP3 ($42.40)
CO ($23.65)
Button ($23.75)
Hero ($16.75)
BB ($4.00)
UTG ($24.50)
UTG+1 ($20.55)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Qs, Qc.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.25, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.25, 1 fold, CO calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, Hero raises to $2.15, 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1.90, MP2 calls $1.90, CO calls $1.90, Button folds.

Flop: ($9.10) 3c, Qd, Td (4 players)
Hero bets $4, Villain calls $4, MP2 folds, CO folds.

Turn: ($17.10) Ac (2 players)
Hero bets $10.6 (All-In), Villain calls $10.60.

River: ($0) Jc (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $38.30

Results in white below:
Villain has Kh As (straight, ace high).
Hero has Qs Qc (three of a kind, queens).
Outcome: Villain wins $38.30.

well, looks nice but i dont play for money, or least not this high or online :P anyway, what's MTT, SNG and all that stuff? I dont know :P and how did you get the cards so nicely in the post? :P
Well, playing for a year seriously and staying on $5 sng's and $.10/.25 is not really a great progress ben and you'll for sure get such bad beats mostly on 'em...

To comment/analyze the hand:

Firstly, you didn't write anything about the villain (is he tight, lose, agressive, willing to call with junk or premium cards, ....), so it would be hard to analyze his play on something different than that he played as he would have had a flush or straight draw ... Anyway ...

pre-flop: perfectly raised! There were many limpers and you needed to eliminate most of 'em and were out of position, so a great raise. (o) There were 2 limp/callers, so i would have thought of players with a low pocket pair got in (i think that's what mp2 had) and/or someone with 2 high cards (like KT, KJ, JT, QJ not really AK, AQ, KQ...) or someone with suited connectors or an suited ace with low kicker ...

flop: a drawy flop! (straight and flush draw). So that's something they could have! You would have to bet A LOT more here mate, as you gave them perfect odds to call you with any draw. More players in the pot with you, more posibilities they got something you don't want ... Usually put a close pot sized bet (75%+) or a pot sized bet. I know you want as much money as possible when you hit a set, but doing that on draws will just bring you more and more such bad beats ... If the flop wouldn't have had draws, this play could have been good (depends how villain plays), but when you get draws on it, put your money in!

turn: A scary card, he telegraphed as he would have hold some kind of a draw (i'm sure he would have raised if he hit 2 pairs, as he would be scared of flush and straight draw as well). Here he could have hit the straight or missed the flush and as you're out of position (you acted before him) i think you did an OK move. I would hope here he missed the flush or got the highest pair or slow played 2 pairs ...

As it's micro limits, he called your flop bet with a gut-shot straight draw, a big loller! You could only lose to 4 cards ... Deffo really unlucky river for you, but that's what happens on micro limits. Also an proper flop bet would scare him away from chasing 4 cards (well maybe he chased an ace as well) ... Make a note about him, you deffo wanna play against him in future ... That's the ones from whom you can squeeze the most ...

Andi:

SnG = Sit 'n' Go (a one table tournament, for example 8 players sit down at one table and pay the same amount (buy-in) to start. They get eliminated when they lose all their chips, first 3 players (or 2, depends on how much players started at the table) get the money ... (first the most, .....)

MTT = Multi Table Tournament, that's what you mostly see on tv, as the name says there're multi tables (2 or more (usually more of course)), which means more players, more money .......

As for tournament, sure i'm for it, but there needs to be some money in, as it's not exciting if it's play money and people do things which wouldn't have been done if they would have some money on stake ... $5 is real minimum, c'mon and GL with poker ;-)

Yes thinking back about this hand, I think I played it out badly. My bet on the turn gave them more than 4 to 1 odds to call (he's almost right to call a bet here with a gutshot lol). For the record, Mr Villain was tight passive/passive given his history at the table (PreFlop Aggresion Factor is null!!), and so was MP2.

Do you think I should have gone all in on the flop? A bet of $6 or more would have commited all of my chips instantly to the pot, as whatever hand completed the turn (straight or flush), I had enough pot odds to go/call all-in to try to get a full house or quads.

Also I'm interested in hearing your history as a player none, as I've personnally never had enough guts to go on the higher levels because I think I should work more on my game before. Hearing some experiences of higher stakes may help because I'm already happy to be a winning player (but some part of me knows I should try to go and move up, learn to beat the game over there and a better hour income).

@andy: I converted an hand history file with FlopTurnRiver.com hand converter and edited it a bit to get the pictures from their site here (http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php)

:)

lalala zzz.[zzz]

Yep yep yep =D
ok i wont play with nony on my table xD
For my own part, i play since some time now too but not seriously, only in sight to perfect my play. Id be happy to share some hands with you.
OH! and i never played with pre-flop ?? I would have checked-raised(maybe) at the turn to let villain make a decision, a K in his hand is more than probable.

Good morning Efreeze!

Gotta love these cheap $5.50 tourneys and their dodgy plays :)
And right before you point it out NoNe, YES I AM A BAD BEAT ADDICT (kindda on tilt after the following hand tbh)

HH from PokerRoom.com $5.50 ($500 Added) MTT converted via this Hand Converter

Seat 1: UTG+2 ($3,660 in chips)
Seat 2: MP1 ($1,500 in chips)
Seat 3: MP2 ($1,545 in chips)
Seat 4: MP3 ($2,445 in chips)
Seat 5: CO ($1,170 in chips)
Seat 6: Button ($1,190 in chips)
Seat 7: Hero ($1,480 in chips) - Dealt to Hero : Ad 3h
Seat 8: BB ($1,510 in chips)
Seat 9: UTG ($2,700 in chips)
Seat 10: UTG+1 ($810 in chips)

Pre-flop: (10 players)
UTG calls, 2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button calls, Hero calls, BB checks.

Flop: Jd 3s 3c ($120, 6 players)

>> OK, Here I'll try to avoid the classic mistake : slow playing Trips. I may slow play them for this is no draw, true. But we are 6 to the flop and do I really want to let somebody spike a Full House on the turn for free? No. So let's bet it and if somebody has one of the three J3 combinations left, I'm dead and I don't care.

Hero bets $80, BB folds,

>> Fine, the most likely opponent to hold an hand like J3 folded.

UTG calls,

>> WTF? Does UTG called preflop with a 3 or did he slowplay Jacks (and still is slowplaying them when my most likely holding is trips?!)?

MP1 goes all-in $1,480,

>> What is happening here?

MP3 folds, Button calls all-in $1,170,

>> Sounds like the sickest tournament hand I ever played. I've got what looks like the second best hand and still I have two people all in in front of me. What the hell, if I should die now at least I fought bravely.

Hero calls all-in $1,380, UTG calls.

>> Naturally, one would expect an overcall from UTG. Now I'm 80% sure he slowplayed Jacks preflop, wanted to check/raise to isolate but simply missed his raiser. Probably one of the other calling donks has AJ and the other a 3. I must be drawing to 2/3 outs... Great!

MP1 shows Kc Jh
Button shows Ah Kh

UTG shows 5d 3d

>> This is a donkey festival. I can't believe it. I'm way ahead.

Turn: :5s ($5,710, 1 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: $4,800, Sidepot 1: $870, Sidepot 2: $40)

River: :Js ($5,710, 1 player + 3 all-in - Main pot: $4,800, Sidepot 1: $870, Sidepot 2: $40)

Results:
Final pot: $5710

Now gimme a rope, please.

Ok, now i just go subscribe pokerroom and call every Hero's hand.
I play with UNIBET. Every day from 5 to 6 there's a free roll happy hour with prizes from place 130 on. Every 10 minutes a new game starts. My balance is 0,36 cent now, it used to be like 2 dollars but I wasted it on rebuys. xD

I play Winamax.com, freerolls every day at 6-8 PM CET. But i really do like the game screen, not hurting my eyes like some others.

---> Exemple.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Winamax seems to be a member of the Ongame network : a network which counts PokerRoom as one of its members and PokerRoom is where I play which means maybe we can meet, David :)

Oh and I like to be called by top pair/trips when holding trips with ace kicker any day of the week and twice on sundays

BTW: Was this screenshot taken a while ago or is it recent? There used to be $.10 NL tables on PokerRoom but they got removed a few months ago.

Oh and for our exhausted thread hijackers: here's some Red Bull! :)

ASOahUhouhrUAHohasuhOURHaushoASh

Raised my balance to 0,43 $, time to get serious soon :D.
+ 0.45 $
I'll try to get some cash at pokerroom. At what time does the happy hour start there?
They refused pSylle as a nick in pokerroom oO then i wont play there!

@ Lyor: I don't know the exact hours of the PokerRoom freerolls but there are some all day long, but they suck. It's like 3K players for 40 paid, with $500 prize pool, so kind of a big effort for a smallish reward, eh!

@ pSylle: Of course they will refuse you if you're trying to register twice on the same network with the same nickname. As I told you, both Winamax and Pokerroom are on the same network. This network seems to have different faces/universes tho, at least for play money games. I know that for I tried to play 'play money' with some friends and I had to create another account in order to be able to join them.

hey all
