Maybe one of you would know what the hell is going on...

I just can't see any of the 333 servers in my q3 server list. I can see all of the hmf and ems servers, the rus server, some others, but not 333TDM.

What is more, when I try to connect by typing /connect <address>, I get "Awaiting challenge 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... and so on" information, and it stays like that untill I push esc.

So help plz!

I had this a while back...Just download ase (www.allseeingeye.com) and connect thru that...Should work

i have that sometimes to, if i go to the mods menu and load the freeze mod he finds them most of the times. but cheeetos way is i think more easy.

Nope, it doesn't work. It's just the same when I use the AllseeingEye or load freeze tag - I get this message while connecting. Awaiting challenge - and I can wait for ages, knowing that it will never come :/

lol this problem is verry simulair to one on another topic over here, that person has it onley when playing ofline what you can do it sometimes helps is backup your q3config.cfg and put it somewhere save and delete the what in your basic3 folder than restart quake he resets if everything is right your settings sometimes it helps. if it does not help or quake does not load anymore you just pace the backup back in your basic 3 folder. give it a shot mabey it helps.

Hmmmm try connecting to different servers in different mods and such...
Sounding like something I had a year or so back..Cant remember it tho :/

Are you behind a firewall? If so make sure that port 27960 hasnt closed itself....

When i specify a  fake invented server i get the awaiting challange message forever...so i thnk it's why u cant reach my server; dont forget my servers have dynamic port, changing anytime i restart server (without my control, im under a nat/pat)...probably this time i got a public port that your pc seems not to acccept...and this could be due to a firewall. if u havent installed once, check your network advanced options, if u have xp, and try to disable firewall protection if its enabled.

If this doesnt help, ill try to restart both servers and maybe obtain a port again compatible with u.

I tried that all except for reinstalling quake (which is impossible, anyway, it ain't installed at all - just copied without installation). I tried reseting back to defaults.

The problem is that I can't even see the server, not to mention connecting to it. The administrator of my lan network, through whose pc I'm connecting to the internet is using a firewall, but he has been using it before and it wasn't a problem. I can connect to the other servers, so I don't know why these ones don't work.

   

if you can connect to other servers then its nearly deffo what stema has said about the ports he uses...just have to w8 it out until they change -- sozy

yes, it seems stema's servers have non-set ports and change up restarting to all kinds of things

ill admit to not being that good with this type of problem (internet + firewall) so not really sure, but i would think the firewall is block to some ports used by perhaps trojans/viruses..D

They r rebooting right now sorry to who was playing!! and sorry to zero, your server quey program need to be reconfigured!

This time i had 10000 range port for gt turbo and 40000 range for serv1, pretty strange values, but i cant pre-set them unfortunatly.

Now lets see what i'll get, it seems this is the problem (can u ask it to your firewall admin just as confirmation?). Anyway...i will restart my servers till u will be able to come back to us!! promised!

Darn it...

It's still the same. Well, it may be some kind of rare 333 quake disease, that makes it unable to play on 333 servers. It probably leads to a slow and painfull quake death.

Hey Lupus,you can try to connct with ip adress now,Stema restart server,have you did it?? i have your same problem,i can't see Stema server,but i connect with ip adress.

For disconnecting from server -- I think it's something to do with the master id serv...Also as far as I know cannot be fixed until damn Carmack decides to help out again with quake :/

It's possible it wasn't the firewall, but if it wasn't then I really don't know what it is soz

The administrator says that it's not a firewall and the he doens't block any ports.

When you connect appare the write "awaiting challenge..." Wait Lupus,in 30 sec you will connect....but wait ok??

ye sometimes I also dont see 333 server, but after hitting search he finds it. But I dont think thats the same problem. Hope u solve it Lup

since yesterday i havent been seeing a lot of the servers too!! cant see 333 or hmf/ems servers...hmm. but i can access them via the all seeing eye.

hope you solve your own problems too lups. sorry, i am of no help.

damn damn damn!!im so sorry!!

i retsarted again servers and i got an under 1000 port (i emailed u). Its strange cos this only happens to u! last resort would be to reinstal (re-copy) a virgin quake directory. Have u tried to reinstall the original freeze files yet?

Lets try to think: if u can see (and ping) my servers via all seeing eyes/gamespy (can u see who is playing and the ping u get, right?), this means u can reach servers, networking speaking, so its a quake/mod config problem at 99%. During weekend, if u want, i will setup a normal(no freeze) quake server and see what happens.

Warnell - I don't want to play on the other servers, I just can't connect to the 333tdm Turbo.

Stema - we'll try to fix it later, because on Sunday I leave and I will be absent for about a month. We can try to fix this problem after my return from England.

Em - to all that don't know that - my quake hasn't been ever installed. It's just copied to my hard disk. Anyway - cu all in august.

Was it only mee that had problems tonight ??  I couldent connect to any server at all ??? !!  I'll got this "AWAITING CHALLANGE"  I'll waited & waited,, I'll even reinstalled Q3 + PR1 but no changes

Was it problems with the masterserver perhaps ??  grrrr

 

This is very strange....Quite a few peeps here now receiving these probs...most likely all with fake cdkeys...

As a hunch i think perhaps id is straightening out the creases in its cdkey fraud.......Such a strange shake up...but ill look into it  

i have sometimes been unable to see clan 333 server, now i have a problem with my isp not being able ot connect to sweden or finland, so i cant connect to battle.net, now i cant play diablo 2 or warcraft 3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

lupus u can try pinging stemas server, it will show wether u can connect,

goto command promt, (start menu) and type ping (stemas ip)

oh i forgot to mention, theres a problem with telia, (ppl who host battle.net, located in sweden,) kill me u are swedish i think, then that might be ur problem, if telia is ur isp. (this all started happening since july 9th) when diablo 2 ladder was reset.

Yep, couple of days ago there were problems with id master server (not with gamespy master server as far i know). Less server in the list, problem contacting master server etc.

Gaaah I still cant connect to any server on the list soo strange :-( ,, Can see them but ...

Basically the problem is that some people behind some routers, eg mine is a Netgear RP114, are at the moment unable to connect to Q3 and possibly other games that use the ID auth servers. The game just hangs at the awaiting challenge screen, and the last line in the console is this:
Resolving authorize.quake3arena.com
authorize.quake3arena.com resolved to 192.246.40.56:27952

And Yeeeeees It works I can play again im so freaking Happy

Not so fast. It seems to be EXACTELY the same problem that's been bothering me for a couple of months. I keep getting the 'awaiting challenge' screen when I try to connect to the 333 servers.

I downloaded this 'plug', but what next? I double-clicked it, but nothing has changed. :/ It's still the same.

I think I finally managed to run this plug correctly, but it didn't fix the 'awaiting challenge' problem.

It's been so long since I last played on 333 - there must be something I could do to solve this problem...

Ill need ur pc specs, (incl connection n such) and ur router details and if u have a built in firewall on router or just normal firewall or none....a pic of the awaiting challenge thing (prnt scrn key up top) and one of in console whilst this happens too (only 1 at a time can the key remember so best of takin the pic, quit quake/minimize then put it in paint or smthin re-size if its too big for ur mail to send then send it to my mail (will give in a mome) then do the same for the next pic... sqzmantis@btinternet.com

a good m8 of mine is commin bak after movin work + house in a few days, and he knows practically everything about comps (im being near litteral when i say that...he has all that phd n stuff) so ill give him a buzz about this also...

Hey Lupus we all want u back @333 server !!  ok if u wanna try the thing I did 1 step search for the hosts file, I is placed in different locations dependig on operating system u have, then just open up the file with notepad and add the line that I showed in my eariler post
