Im on a Macintosh and my sound has been screwed up for afew months now and its driving me crazy.
Its sounds like some robot whos talking ultra fast and has smoked too much weed or soemthing =)

Has anyone experienced thsi problem?

I will go crazy soon, HELP!!!!

hahahah no i dont have this problem, why? cos i use a desent pc , common windows is not mutch but mac just sucks man!!!!!!!! its expensive, weird and it sucks in playing games. as you noticed.

is it in freeze or in normal quake after playing freeze, the machiengun in freeze sounds kinda weird if you load normal quake in the freezemod.(this happends when you play normal quake after playing a freeze server)

yeah, does it happen on just quake or all things?

If just quake there's a possibility of it's too loud (in-game setting or on speakers) or that you have a currupted sound packet (unlikely)

but will wait and see if its all or not

I remember some1 from long b4 i came to freeze had something similar (but in all not just quake) and it turned out to be dodgy speakers...(aka needed to get new speakers)

im no pc kid but what have you tryed all ready ???

have u tred uninstalling q3 and then reinstalling it not reinstalling it

have you tryed the diffrent vertions of freeze eg. auto download on hod and 333 servers

maby have a look at if its only freeze

he told me his problem (a 100 times), and it is when quake is loaded, so we decided it must have been a sound pack or so in the baseq3 folder. This can not be dodgy speakers or a sucky pc, because the whole voice is different, like a pak8.pk3 file. But, it is not in the baseq3 folder, nor in the freeze folder, he does have a q3sound4d.pk3 in his freeze folder, but tdeleted that and it was the same. Please help the man, and think of something good which is not hardware-based because everything works fine.

or just tell him were to download it form for all you non cd key holders ???

ill take a look and edit out any shit thats in there...

Also is ur sound on high or low quality? ive heard some get very poor sounds on low quality...also what is ur fps as if ur fps is low/incredibly choppy it can cause sound problems....

Hmm, any other games u play? if u can see fps or so on that and its fine (the game would have to be more graphically demanding than q3) then that saves me just saying it after u tell me whatever the answer would have been....if its choppy/low just say...

I'd also try reinstalling sound-card drivers, because some utilites, games etc. may modify the drivers to make themselves functional and so affect other programmes.

Its nothing wrong with the computer, well maybe cause its a mac then =)

But I have some damaged sound files that keeps fucking with me and downloading q3sound4d.pk3 doesnt work either.
Doesnt matter if I add it or remove it

So I have to find a way to reinstall quake, its more to it than just using the CD, so Im not completely stupid here =)

Anyways, I mailed id software, so Ill post their answer here for future errors for other players

Since i have to leave house in 1min i only put something quick then edit when back later:
Id software hardly ever mail anyone back from emails now amigo, they don't seem to care about q3 no more

mabey save your config, delete your quake3 folder remove your registry keys (does mac have a registy) does this not work just reinstall your mac (evil)

as u can tell form the latness of my reply i have been studdying this for a long time sad jak but i think i found somthin  that could solve your problem

i know it works with windows apple :S maby

on a apple pc can u acsecs the hard drive of what ever weard name apple have made up for it well form there find q3  for windows users its C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena

just find were u put in new maps mods people or what ever

delete that folder

no matter what it says but b4 doing that uninstall q3 then delete the folder then try installing q3 again dont just reinstall q3 it does not get rid of the folders
