hey all

well first of all i wanna say i m sorry for the events wich occured on the weed server past few weeks ... much bullshit due to a few players ... many ppl got kicked with admin powers (i gave it to wrong ppl at that time and .. they abused ... sorry ) but now the problem is sloved ... they are out of weed

i saw a few ppl say they aint understand weed behavior these days ... and bla bla bla and things with boothy / silver*surfer went too far ... things like this ... well .. i apologise to all ... and rest of clan know i m posting this and agree with me to say sorry to all ... BUT ! ... problems are solved ... few players are out of the team and ... well the weed server is back to normal (only me and 2-3 weeds have the admin and only ME / STROGG ... even he left weed ... have rcon)

ANYWAY

that made me realise we (ALL 1.31 SERVER ADMINS) should agree on a general attitude and rules for servers

in 1.32 (usa servers) when you play you have a message displaying in the console once in a while telling everyone the server rules etc ... i ll try to put that on the weed serevr when i ll find how to do it

in short their rules are simple : DONT  COMPLAIN ABOUT SERVER OR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE // KEEP the insults at a joke level or u ll get kick // if you have a problem with some player dont  bother the ppl playing with it ... go to a forum and expose ur problem clearly //
that s about it ... i didnt especially tryied to LEARN their rules as i m ok with them lol

but the thing is ... when a player get ban from a server for cheating or for beeing far too stupid or i dunno whatever the reason ... if he is not ban on the other servers then ... that s useless to even ban to start with ... he just go somewhere else play and do the bullshit ...

i think all the admins form 1.31 servers are mature ppl who know when it s time to kick someone or not ... i mean admins are not there to bother ppl they are here to make the players feel better on the servers when playing ... at least that s the goal i have with weed server ...

i already purposed that a long time ago ... i am ok to start giving the rcon of weed server first to all the 1.31 server admins (i ll change it if that sux but ... i m sure i wont  regret it)

dunno what else to say ... but i m bored of ppl coming to the game ONLY in order to insult ppl and get vengence on someone for their pitifull lifes ... we all have probs ... we re here to have fun and enjoy a game with ppl that i personally consider as "friends" for most of the 1.31 comunity 

we have to start taking measure so things change here ... i m bored of usa ppl saying "aaaa 1.31 freeze lol yea it s the cheaters world" ... that SUX ! we need a lil organisation with ALL servers ... and if possible you all add on ur servers that script about server rules ... maybe it s ugly or i dunno but at least ppl wont  say they are not warned and they dont  understand why you kick them

i m asking the server admins a MASTER MEETING ... in order to set up some general attitude rules

if you want we do that on some server ... or i dunno just tell me time / date and i ll do my best to be here

and by all admins exchanging rcon with you assault, means that strogg will have rcon on all servers, and that will be the end of fun.

Yes. in ef u dont need rcons unless u want to make servers private or make different settings. If weed upload latest ef version to server and include proper cfg - ppl can get admin pw. And with admin pw - u can ban ppl, kick ppl, mute ppl, forceteam to blue, red and spec... That would work the best.

well ... saristian ur as funny as usual

when you were baning me from ur server (while you gave me rcon) you know when you wanted to force me find out how to unban someone ? the funny thing is you made me reinstall my whole computer quake etc in order to be sure i didnt get some shit from msn ...  and btw i think i did that cause YOU left ur server in 1.31 ... and it was the ONLY one left (maybe one more not sure) when we tryied to make ppl move to 1.32 ! if you removed ur server i m sure it would have gone MUCH better !!!!  and now you complain i crashed ur server ONCE ???? lol man ... get over it dude that was around dunno ... years ago and no i didnt  spent my days crashing ur server ... that happened ONLY during the moving part (forgot when lol)  ...

YES i know you dont need the rcon for it ... we DO use admin for most things (especially so we aint  destroy the map rotation ...) but ! ban ... i dont  know why ... we can t do it with admin ... so it s MUST use rcon if you dont wanna make errors ... unlerss there is something i dont  know or something i need to change on server cfg

I agree with Psylle, only the admin password is needed. But maintaining such a list will be hard ... I mean if I ban somebody thinking he's cheating on all 1.31's, how does the other admins know the reason why I banned him ?

my 2 cents...

1. An Overall Adminpassword administration would be good! The idea is great, but do we know admins on all servers? Maybe no need if the most frequently used servers are all in (bedzie, weed, dft, 333, instafrag, ...?)

2. Important is the core of players who really get the adminpassword and who are sure to be trusted with it to handle it carefully and not to give to anybody! I personally trust my 333ers of course! spiral, psylle and myself further Insy, you assault, adam, moyse, dft shorty, who else should get it? clanleaders - I am not for it.

--> Adam's idea about the webadmin is good! but adminpasswords are in my opinion still good to be given out, because then you can make "adjustments" ingame. put spec for inactive players, 999'd, forceteam ect.

3. there must be rules for players and admins - the list of adam/assault (usa 1.32) are both good. though they need some adjustments (cap's are not that bad of corse, and it can happen by accident!) keep it simple! admin rules: there have to be 1-3 warnings b4 a kick/ban. and use /kick at least once before /ban! rules are to be kept, but the "general admins" have to have a good sense when it's going too far or when he should wait a little longer before making the general atmosphere on the server with /kick/ban only worse! also the punishments must be classed! arguments with bad words, or insult-ban's can/might be withdrawn after 1-2 months time for example - even cheaters may learn their mistakes in time and can better themselves...

4. All disagreements between admins (if there are any) must be layed by and they have to focus on the "greater good" of the community. example only: weed and loonies are not best friends, they dont have to become, just get along - cause by all monkey (and maybe others) may have done, there usually cant have been kicking reasons at least as many as you kicked these players. we all know monkey's humor - it's sometimes hard but he doesnt mean it bad in general... also sari and assualt are/were fighting? lol! please lay that by fast! sari's my oldest friend in q3 - i played with him while most others were shitting in their q3 pants as babies   did you really leave your 1.31 server running? shame on you!  assault i've known you a very long time too and always considered you as friend, so let these very old arguments behind you!

5. All servers same config.? I personally like that idea, but it's hard to achieve! I love weed settings - probably the best settings (maybe hook a little bit slower) and i like if there 1-2 cft matches in rotation. but when it comes to maps used the problems are becoming greater! it is not of great neccessity - though it would be very nice

6. Admins would need a place to tell why there were problems and why actions were taken. either on a private forum on this site, or a combination of webadmin and admin homepage --> forum to discuss why people were banned and additionally screenshots if needed.

7. banned people will come running crying and annoying "their" admin on msn/email/in servers... (the one they are best with) and bug them as long as they get unbanned - this can't happen!

8. this all means a hell lot of work to be done! admins must constantly monitor the servers and beforehand everything must be thought over and applied carefully - are you all up to this?

Well, we are usually giving warnings on bedzie, except someone is using some hard cheats.

Nice post Andi, here's my thoughts about the idea

Rules could be good to be written down but let's stop now still and think. Everyone should know how to behave and not to insulting others. Thats a basics. Of course, we play online game Quake 3 which tends us to release some anger and we know when its not harm and which goes too far. I dont support for 3 warnings before kicks or ban because like i said before - we dont need to educate ppl to behave, its their parents job and ppl should learn it from the life itself. Otherwise we send the message for the ppl that hey: "U can insult that person 3 times or reconnect server 3 times before we can do nothing about it". And im not even saying that we should kick or ban ppl when we see negative word, not at all. But u get the picture what i said. And about bannings - i dont support using ban option too much. Ive only banned once in eF and i gave it only for one server and released the IP next day. I dont support long term bans - not for those who will harrashing the servers and talking shit etc. They can come next day and if they still are pissed - let em think another day then. But giving weeks or months... its just too much. I think its abusing the admin powers. For cheaters like Andi said... could be lil longer. We havent seen obvious cheaters around so much like before. Maybe we are doing good job already. Besides just recently we found out some person who was using cheats (I dont tell the name) - 333's gave him a warning and gave him another change. So this again is not about banning and banning. And we dont need to specify so strick rules for admins. Those who gets the rcon or admin passwords should already know how to use them and for what purpose - and not abusing them. But of course it shoud be written down if someone misses the point . So in the nutshell - i dont mind ppl releasing some steam off from their minds but we all know when it comes too much when its harming the other players in the servers and so on - then -> action. As the players and admins they should know common way to behave. And ppl should remind that there is no superior judges around and grand jury waiting the call for you kicks and bans. Admins are humans too and they do mistakes. We decide things sometimes alone. And I dont like the idea putting admins as "polices" in quake3. We dont need to spread lol... fear... lol to servers and to ppls minds.

I dont agree either that we all should have similiar server settings and all that. Its quite nice that servers can be lil different from another. Like Andi said, i like the ctf in efreeze too. But I could suggest that Marigold would decrease autothaw time cuz its way too much in ctf action.

Private forum is good idea too.

I really dont agree with same cfg for all servers, i love quick hook and im not alone. Every server owner makes whatever he wants with his rcon.
Just tell me if you wanna create a private forum.

well i do think each servers having different cfg is better ... let the players choose where they wanna play and what style  ... for exmeple weed have ctf .... not everyone like it so they can go to NO ctf servers ... etc. ...

for the unbaning part we have to agree on something : we NEED a admin forum ...
for exmple : i ban some fucker cause of cheat ... he go to adam and say haaa assault baned me just cause he dislike me (i never do that exept for king and yet i ll do it ONLY on weed server) and boom adam unban him ... that is not possible ...
so i think the best would be to JUSTIFY a ban on a forum with for exemple a demo of cheater or a demo about his bad behaviour WITH the player IP and so we all know and agree he diserve the ban ... and if we disagree then we speak and reach a conclusion ... ban / unban
to me like this we are sure we ALL argee for each banned player (but i agree we didnt see LOTS of cheaters recently ... but still ... a few)
otherwise the idea of that new feature with ban time is great ... no prob to unban someone then and no need for them to come crying or say sorry ... server auto unban after a while ... i like that idea

i remember "persiu incedent" adam... the most loved q3 player... anyway, displaying the server rules every 5 minutes or so will soon get annoying - just keep the time distance clever like every 15 minutes or so... servers are not only chosen by settings, but also and formost because of number of players and ping... but i guess you've known that, haven't you?!

my server is located in Nurnberg, Germany. DFT and 333 are in Frankfurt. That's difference. Configs are same.

ah, and mine probably has best cpu and power of it is free most of time ( athlon 5600+ x2 )

They're not kicked for wrong client, they're kicked for illegal client, which is not really the same. This bug occors since i've set sv_allowdownload to 0. Dunno why.

what i saw is players kicked after a few seconds in game ,i never saw that  , sv_allowdownload set to 0  dont allow to join game when you dont have files  , so ?? perhaps i am wrong

Arf yes, I'm dumb, it was probably my unzipped version of quake. I've a quake version where i dezipped all .pk3 files to load maps faster coz loadings are boriiiiiiiiiiiiing. I've deleted all .pk3 files in that version XD
