Welcome,

as the tactic discussion was not that successful, maybe it will flare up if we make it an open discussion on our internal forum! I have copy/pasted my emails thoughts - so if you have the time/mood please comment, make suggestions or adjustments - have fun!

I think we are far more powerful if we just keep some simple rules in our minds and adapt them to each opponent and to each map we are playing! :p
When reading the points - you dont have to follow each point EXACTELY - if you think in the situation you are currently in another thing to do would be better - do it, but think and think quickly ;-) !

1. Most important of all: THINK! you all have played q3 for so long and you all have so much expierence - now think what would be 1. the best way to go through a map 2. think what the enemy will do and react to it! 3. think which way your teammate will go and follow OR go another way (cut the way) and meet him there!

2. Raoming all alone through a map is basically not a good idea, but grouping must be made fast and simple, the more you pay attention to grouping and your own team the less attention you have on the enemy! so:
I would propose to re-introduce meeting spots; when spawning 1. pay attention not to get spawnfragged 2. if there is a teammate near - get to him, if not go alone - who leads is not important just dont stand their and wait but start moving 3. go to the meeting point and try not to get shot ;-) 4. meeting points must not be necessarily told in advance - you know the maps and you know there are 2-4 good meeting spots in each map - one quick written word where (no matter who tells) and all meet there. then choose another meeting point and go their in quick formed groups - each group or sometimes 1 but only 1 alone - all in different ways.

3. When frozen: spectate and click through all players, if/when you are thawed - you must have chosen already the point where you think your help is needed most and go there - if you meet enemies on the way or spawn very far from that point - what to do? - yes - THINK! ;-)

4. When we come to a point/room in a map we know is camped we need several tactics:
1. try to get the enemy to leave their camping points and "lure" them into coming to us. 2. if at one entrance to this camped spot there are two or more teammates - try to "sweep": rotate in 1 by 1 and try to hit - the moment you have shot move away - let reload - and go again - the mates who are with you do the same. 3. if one is shot - only thaw him/her if you are ABSOLUTELY sure you can thaw before you can get shot! other wise move backwards and wait for the enemy to come - we know they will cause they think we will try to thaw and want to kill more. 4. storming: if we storm a room we must ALL do it at once! and storming does not mean move 1-2 steps and try to shoot - storming means we hook as madmen into the room so the enemy has to move/leave their camping spots - and then shoot them - its risky but this is the only way to storm! and dont thaw when storming - cause the enemy wishes nothing more then us starting to thaw - we will all be frozen b4 we know!  4.1. another storming posibilty you read in point 5.

5. confusion/diversion:
I dont know if you noticed, but i try to confuse the enemy: so they get nervous and start to make mistakes - this can be achieved by: when i have enemys in front of me and i am sure there are teammates with me, i try not to aim but concentrate on hooking at a side or behind them so they have to turn - I do this so the good aimers in 333 can then shoot them in the back - even if this means my sacrifice. the diverter can only be ONE PERSON - the rest must do their best to shoot the enemy! if i get killed abandon tactic and - THINK ;-) 2. I have noticed this during psy/abz fabulous victory on dm2 in 2vs2 vs bma's miurek/kooki: it helps when you sometimes just shoot senseless into the camped room or let your hook flow into the room without getting pulled - the enemy gets nervous and start to make mistakes  = reveals himself to be shot at easily. dont forget that accu doesnt matter, only victory!

6. map adopting:
every map needs a bit of its own tactic. i guess you know but so you dont forget. in small maps spawnfrags is the way to win a map. the big (!) problem there is that in public, i always wait a few seconds b4 i respawn - most of my team has already spawned cause they want to play after being frozen long (noobish thoughts ;-) but when i wait 1-2 secs longer i almost never get spawnfragged! The problem i mentioned: in clanwar this maybe the most risky thing ever, cause q3 gives the point to the other team if all the spawned are shot no matter if there are still players who havent spawned - change this in efreeze marco please!!!!!!!!! (thats how we lost all points on dm17 psy!)
ok back to map adopting: small maps: hook fast when spawning, if you are not sure to hit by 1st shot or see many enemys try to get away and meet 1 or more teammates/hide/follow/sweep.... in big maps you have usually more time, spawn quickly and team as mentioned above. --> addition to small maps: if we are in the defensive in a small map (loosing 3-4 points fast in a row for example) we must try to turn the table again, it's important that at those points we don't let the enemy "play their game"! So it should be a good idea to take the speed out of the game - hide and camp together and wait for mistakes...

7. abz/psy moving:
abZ and psy have similar playing style, we try to find ways around the enemy and get them in the back where they dont expect it - this tactic works often but cant be done in groups - that is one reason why i dont group sometimes - you attack at one end and i try to get them in the back - this was how it worked in dm6 yesterday. so sometimes when you see me moving fast, you must not always follow though you can to watch my back - think!

8. thawing:
if we are in a group and psy or abz are in it - please dont thaw and concentrate on shooting - let psy or me thaw! if we are shot you can try your luck :D Thawing must in general be handled carefully, as the game became more camp-alike almost all frozen bodies are camped - think where the enemy could be, create a diversion by starting to thaw then move quickly away and watch out...

9. score:
its hard for me sometimes too, but i try my best to get away from it - the single players score in a clanwar doesnt matter at all - try to let go of all score thinking and only act for the team! you know this but dont forget it ;-)

10. camping ourselves:
sometimes it may be good to camp ourselves, you have enough experience so i cant and wont apply special rules about it. BUT if there are 2 or more frozen enemys - they MUST be camped bye 1 or 2 players the rest goes off to kill the rest - if the enemy comes back b4 they are killed and freezes the campers, the team must come back as quick as they can and save what they can still save!

11. /cg_draw_teamoverlay :P
always again always! have teamoverlay on and take looks when you sure you cant be shot and try to analyze the situation and act to it.

12. TS:
i played far better without ts. we tried it in the past, and its much fun when i hear all these mates in different accents, but often it didnt help us to win - also there was much overdrive yesterday - you must all use headphones guys - stema come on, spent the 10 euros and get some :D IF we want to use ts further we must have rules as doomy explained them a big while ago.

13. - and finish: all that i said above must not apply in every clanwar/every map/every opponent! i revealed to you all my playing tactics so adopt them or not but keep 'em to yourself please! moreover - the really good clans/players  know about all i have said above so all these tactics may not work every time - it will depend on: who has the stronger nerves - who shoots more players - and who has a bit more luck maybe :D If we want to win vs. the big clans we need new thoughts and especially tactics that they wont expect!

so long.... discuss :p
