Change 1.31 serwer to 1.32 !!!

You don't need to use shit PB !
It doesn't work for some reason :
- There are still a lot of cheaters (look at ban list on servers, you'll understand) and it's boring to play against them all the time
- The whole community isn't ready to play only in 1.32 (coz of punkbuster which introduce problems like lags, update and other problems)
- If we wanna do some efreeze competitions, we need to fight cheating, by playing on 1.32
- Half of the people prefers 1.31, and others prefer 1.32. We can't force everyone to play only one version or we will kill the whole community
It's a well-known problem here, and as long as punkbuster will stay as it, with its fucking lags and problems, we won't be able to force people to play in 1.32. And we definitively can't accept 1.31 cheating.

I agree Svarog too. Besides public games are just harmless and when admins are eyes open they can kick & ban the obvious cheaters. And like previous messages showed us, clan wars are in 1.32 so thats the key. No harm will cause and ofc, ppl are eyes open there too.
One thing makes me wonder how come efreeze servers aint pure (1.31 is special about that)? I could understand that when previous EF didnt hold pm skins and ppl wanted to use custom skin files like OSP files. BUT NOW pm skins works. Who needs OSP files anymore. Make servers pure! Or is there any reason why they should keep unpure? I really wanna know that. And making servers pure would decrease cheating problem too.

I just hate everything with 1.32, i prefer if there is one wallhacker in the opposite team and have a laggless fast smooth game, fuck those cheaters, i bury these cockroaches, and there would never be bot users on 1.31, it's too risky and too obvious to spot. Be strong, don't whine, kthxbi
The truth is....The main part of the community is WAY too dumb to even download custom maps, how could they imagine that 1.32 release even exists?
isnt there a way to get some kind of PB on 1.31?

I am enough strong to add punkbuster in 1.31 BUT IT'S NOT CURRENTLY POSSIBLE
Punkbuster is not free. You need to include it into the main program, and you need to pay evenbalance for sources (or at least, headers + libraries) that aren't free (and VERY expensive, only for game developpers). In conclusion, punkbuster is added in 1.32 and there is no way to include it into 1.31. I would add that even if we find a way to add it, it will stay punkbuster, even in 1.31, and you will have same lags, and same problems.
The only way to fight hackers in 1.31, would be probably to add some stuff in the mod, but creating a good anti-hack program is really hard (look at evenbalance) and it will cost too much resources to the programmer.
The only thing, in my mind which is possible is to create an access control server for clan wars in 1.31. We let a simple server running, with a list of white-listed players (login + pass), with online registration for it, and we add to the mod an authentificating method to this server for clans wars. For example /ef_login "Svarog" and /ef_password "iloveatreyandadam". We even don't need to encrypt the login/password, it's just for our old mod
It's not so hard and we will be able to control access easily for clan wars, maybe more. It's the best solution in my mind.

It should work simple, like /admin command, but it need to process .txt file ( with logins and passowrds )
( which is a bit more complicated, as pasztetka said when i was asking about cheat cvars list in .txt files ( so it should make easier adding new cheatz ) )
We should base the authentification server which I was talking about on 333 forum client list (authentification will be a simple SQL command). It would be nice to force people on battleground, to go here at least one time, and to register themselves.

The problem with hacking q3 1.31 is that we have no sources for it. We have sources only for 1.32.
About anti-cheat. I was thought about modernization of the q3.exe with some services.
First of all it is a module monitor. It will scan the q3 memory for additional modules (DLLs) which commonly nothing but a cheat.
Also, for the moment q3.exe has no effective mechanism for programmable variable listing. And we know that several cheats can be tracked down by their custom vars. Because there is no such mechanism to list all the variables, the mod writers have to check only known vars. If there were such a mechanism, we could check only for allowed vars and kick all the players who has some unknown var from the mod point of view.
It seems a good start if you like we could test that way.
At first, in mod you can't create that it will download something from somewhere on the internet, it's not possible ... You need outside sources, like a cron deamon in linux or scheduler in windows to download some file ... You can't go outside quake in the mod itself, to mod, quake is operating system (not windows, linux, ...) and it can work only in quake (that's why qvm or quake virtual machine), so you can't access anything in windows, linux, internet, whatever (only a file in the same directory as mod, more is not possible) ... The only solution for this is that something outside quake updates an txt file ...
About changing q3 source itself, well you need to know that everybody need that .exe file for this to work and you can achieve this only by changing the quake version, so others can't play on some server where this updates are made ... But you think this will work for this community? I doubt ...
NoNe is right. I doubt that some1 will download a new q3.exe which adds doubtfull anti-cheat protection. This could further split our community.
We need to make a poll in order to see if these changes are as much required.

not entirely the theme of this discussion, but i feel this mod has even in public become more and more a camper game! I would be for implementing ANTI-CAMP as in 1.16 noghost! Would be worth a thought really! :P

well dunno how much would you like the anti camp thing, we had it and it was requested from a lot of people to get it deleted and that's what happend with it ...
I can code this now, but how much you really want it? It's like the rail reload thing, it was great, but now it got abused on most servers and i regret coding it into the mod ... So have this in mind, diff servers, diff settings, diff fucked up shit

well whats the point in going to 1.32 if there is no pb, no cd check and pure server off, will be like 1.31 with high ping.
as was said b4 the move to 1.32 did not work i remember posting saying that the weed server was empty for 3 days amost when it was on 1.32.
PB have sent u all as u may know 2 EXE files PB A and PB B, within the system file of the folder which contains PB A/B there is an EXE file which u can use to update your PB b4 connecting to a server, i use it when i am playing AA (American army's) altho i am having trouble getting it to work within quake it works a treat with AA. i know what the prob is with quake, cos i now have 2 copy's of the system file for pb. but the principle is the same, could someone test it; the file u are looking for is called pbsetup.exe version 2.7 within that PB will scan your system to detect what games u have (which use PB) then update them all via FTP to their right folders.
i am building a new pc this week when the parts get here tomorrow, so i should be able to do the test my self early next week when i start to reinstall every thing again, but maybe someone else could look to.
