In my opinion, playing q3 has almost lost all it's fun, there are several reasons I will give here now. please comment if you feel like it...

There are up's and down's in q3. at the moment, i feel a down. young polish (not only, but mostly) noobs are abusing the game more than ever. /reconnect (if players dont get a 6-10 score in 1minute minimum), /spam, /cheat, /swearing (very very bad, if players dont have good scores, it's "fuck" "noob" "fu" "newbed" "Blocker"...) I have the feeling that there are 2-3 cheaters in most games i play - wallhack is the cheat mostly used. I don't want to acuse anybody here (i don't have proofs, but i just know), but even older and known players use cheats. therefor my fun is very limited atm. i am happy to see 333s and old respected players, thats the times i enjoy mostly, but they are rare.

1.32 could have solved the problem, but i saw that the unskilled, new players want to stay in 1.31 either for having no cd-key, for lack of knowledge how to move, for lack of care for a good game and too much exercise to update, or for cheating. the skilled players would like a descent game, BUT they also want to have as many points (score) as possible in public games, that can only be achieved with full servers and noobs to frag. we also tried to implement new maps, but with new maps it's the same problem as with 1.32. for good scores you'll have to know all spawnpoints and the map by heart. time that many don't want to invest.

Am I the only one who thinks like that? if not, can we do smth. and what?

You're not alone abz. All fun of the game and good mood along with it are lost when some1 starts insulting others if it happens that they kill (freeze) himm. I can name a couple of such persons - they are adrian*mayersk, proxar, and ichigo. They just do it permanently.
I have decided to implement an IP-based mute in the efreeze mod as a priority task. I'm sick of them already.

It woun't adam. Just add the whole subnet and that's all. I come to play mostly - not to chat.

im usually banning x.x.0.0 but in a 10mins all guys are spamming me cause of ban =/

I'll make it at the client side if possible. And this is not ban so it is not as frightening.

ye, i share the same thoughts as you abz and atrey. although i only play efreeze for about one and a half years now i see the negative changes.its a pity but the efreeze world is abused more from day to day!the mainreasons were already mentioned:the cheaters, and the ones who just cant stop insulting otehr people(mostly just because tehy were fragged by tehm).
so yes sonmething has to change, but it ain't easy to find a solution,which is able to satisfy everyone...in my eyes 132 would make the best sense for the beginning,cuz it would help with pb against those cheaters.unfortunatly this just sounds easy...as we know the movement from 31 to 32 didnt workthis is just my point of view!

I must confess i disagree...8 years or more i play and i still have lots of fun, nearly pissing my pants sometimes!

Insults cheats etc Its like that since the beggining, and the best way is to ignore and play...after all thats the main aim of q3.

Btw you are lucky noone come and crashes server all day long as it happend on demon 1.30 where i used to play for years. A Fool has been crashing server for 3 years each fuking day oO what a wonderful world =)

maybe the reason is, i patched servers for one of most popular bugs?:P

i am sorry not to agree with you psylle, yes there always have been cheaters, yes there are always people who abuse the game, BUT in very recent time this level has risen extremely. think back when you started playing. i am sure you had more fun back then, even if you were not as good as you are today. think of the good old "stema TDM turbo" server. it was a shock to the community when we found 333nights cheating (sry tolas, i know you're clean now). today, it's like "ah another cheater" no surprise anymore. i think people should care more, cause it is an insult to those who play clean and fair!!!

1.32 was tried out several times, i just didnt work. 1.31 must be completely erased b4 we can move on - and that ain't gonna happen.

@ adam: this idea you mentoined is perfect, we talked about it in the past, i'll contact you on msn

I am definitively for the switch to 1.32, but if we loose 3/4 of the players, it will be difficult to keep the community alive. We just should let the 1.31 servers online for cheaters and dumbers, and fight ourselves on public 1.32 servers. Everybody will be happy like this.

You made mistake that moved your servers without notification.
When I connected to zs-public (which is 1.32 now) there were no players on it. The only 1.32 server which had player was stk-public where I had good time playing with the stk clan members. We need to shut-down all the rest 1.31 servers in order the public go to the 1.32. Also, we need a detailed instruction published on our forums how to correctly setup 1.32 with pb, keys, etc.

And don't be harry. We need more time. I'll make that instruction soon.

apart from this instruction we tried all that atrey! you see the news on the site, everything you need is there...

I think you should use a word blocker or something like that.(if thats possible.)

hey all, this is going back abit but i seam to remember that when the first incarnation of Efreeze was made there was going to be something like a 'kawra' and 'jebany' filter put in, sorry for my bad lanuage!! i remember that it was asked of none to add these in, or maybe some one was joking about it but i do remember it. maybe that is not such a bad idea, a simple script added to the server only a few k needed just to replace the words, if u wanted u could set the scrip so that when ever some one swears it puts there name there, for example




players types: 'fucking hell noob', server prints: 'player is a noob' or something along those lines, what this would do would be to first emabrrise them and second make them think twice about saying anything like that again, between all the players that post here we cover all the languages so we can filter all the words, i don't mean to censer people i be leave in freedom of speech, but u can say what u want with out swearing this is a simple fix for this problem, i think most of this script is already written inside quake as it is, the bots eg visor,sorlag or who ever have the abilty to say things to u in predetermined text built in to the game a simple twick of this code could be used as the word filter or if u wanted to do it u could write it from scrach.





at andi, i kinda know what u mean about the players cheating and things like that but i just don't let it bother me, i read console and if the text is not for me i ignnor it, simple, but another things is i guess its the time that u are playing as well, i play manly at night arond midnight and 1am by then most of the kids have had their mummy tell them its time for bed and there is little spam, i know it not always possable to play at night, but if u are like me and reqire little sleep thats the best option,

I know what u mean abz but I agree with Psylle. It has been always and will be these abusers in Q3. But I cant say if it has increased recently in 1.31. I dont know the community so well. And I dont pay much attention to cheaters (unless its obvious ace-user) cuz I cant say for sure is there how many. But the name calling and other shit is 1.31 trademark. Never seen this kind of circus in other mod or q3 version =p. But I got used to it pretty fast when I knew it's the 1.31. And about 1.32 moving: its gonna be hard. But the best way is to start with small steps forward. Like doing one server to 1.32 and start playing once in a while there. U cant expect to move whole community to other version. That might sound cruel but ive seen same problems in other community too =/. And why bother to do friends server to .31 when u all can go to .32 and play there instead. That would be nice start for making the difference.

thx for your comments, i like it when everybody is into discussion to see many different views on things.

anyway, as i see q3 (and other games) as virtual sport, i expect the players to follow some "rules", I know this is hard to achieve, but it's just not sportsmanlike to cheat while all others play fair and without the help of hacks and bots.

We made the old friends server on 1.31 so that we have no pb.lag and that some of our old friends can come that have problems with pb coming on 1.32. but believe me when i say we have tried moving one server, we have tried much, but i didnt work out so far...

could someone help me with teh fraggednation-servers plz!? a few days ago it started that i always get kicked from these servers without a reason after about 10 seconds...and i still couldnt figure out the problem :/, so anyone has an idea?

poT is deffinitly no cheater clan, just an ensemble of top players... was never sure about fanatic=necro, but mayn told me he's deffinitly no cheater either, i start to believe them...

I totally agree. poT is not composed of cheaters, just skilled people. Some of them are a bit crazy (who said Monkey ??? :P) but they are friendly, and everyone knows them from their ownages on public servers AND PUNKBUSTERED SERVERS TOO. So stop critisizing them. I guess there are more jalouse people than real cheaters on each servers.

I had time to trace fanatic in spectator mode. He confidently tracked enemies even if they were behind walls. I can assume 3 ways how this can be achieved: 1. Using a sound card just sooo good that it is possible to accurately locate an enemy which is behind a wall only by sound (definetely my sound card sux in this case, because I can't locate with that accuracy which I saw); 2. Using cheat option "s_show 1" (however, I'm not quite confident if it helps); 3. Using wallhack.

I don't state Fanatic is a cheater. I have been playing Q3 for 2 years only comparing with his 7 (as he states). Maybe he is really sooo good. But playing with other good players (tokz, shao, bartek, lyor) I had no feeling a player cheats. With him - I do have (had, actually).

pffft quit crying already... He wouldn't have been recruited if he cheated and i'd have kicked him by now if I thought something else of him. But considering i've not really watched him play, since i'm to impatient to watch other players when i'm frozen, i'll spec him next time and find out for myself. But don't come here saying poT is a cheater clan when you're a nobody cos' you look plain stupid.

 

 

 

 

 

As I said, I don't state he is a cheater. Maybe this is a matter of fortune in conjunction with his skill, but nevertheless - it looked like he used wallhack when he traced enemies which were behind walls.
